I've always used a pipe cleaner inserted through the draft hole.

My latest. A cup and saucer
http://www.ptfoundations.com/Users/Thumbs/mikestanley/1618845733.jpg Saw a couple of versions done to perfection by Michael parks. I've seen a few examples of this shape and have always been intrigued. I was lucky to have the drilling come out well. Overall, I'm pretty satsified. http://www.ptfound...

lacquer
Thanks. Now, just to be clear. I sometimes use shellac, cut about 5-1 with a 91% iso something alcohol. As the last step prior to carnuba, I paint this on and wipe it off before it drys. I know many here do this for a polished finish. The reason I ask about lacquer, beside the fact that I screwed up...

Who's going to NASPC?
I look forward to it every year. Had to miss last year as we buried my beloved grandmother that day. So, are you going?

Question about "spit coats"
I had to buy a new can of shellac the other day. Accidentally, I bought lacquer instead. When I opened the can, there was quite a bit of odor. Is it ok to use a lacquer (it's clear) cut with alcohol as one would use shellac?
Thanks

Looking for a trade for some derlin
Hello all. Winter is ending, spring is springing and I want to make some pipes soon. I have need for a samll quantity of derlin, say, 18" or so in length. Of course, it can be in smaller pieces suitable for tenons. I need this derlin to be 5/16" and I need it to have some sort of a pilot h...

longer drill bits
Hello all; I have a couple of blocls where I can have a slightly longer shank but, I can't seem to find a longer than "standard" bit for the drought hole. I can get longer bits in 1/8 and 3/16 but I really want either 5/32 or 11/64. Does anyone know of a source for such a thing. It would n...

A battery terminal cleaner will do a nice job on tough cake. eBay has a couple of the Pipnet and Senior type reamners up most times I look.

I was looking into glues a while back and found an article (which I don't have) that said glues like Elmer's Carpenter Glue were the best overall in higher heat situations. It said that type of glue was good at over 500 degrees. I can't say for sure but I don't think the bowl of a pipe gets to that ...
