Rayzist Pressure Pot complete blast system in New York

Through my regional FB marketplace I discovered this. Nice guy and the system looks really good. A few months old. Would be over 4K new and he's looking for $2300. I'm not interested, but this seems like a hell of a good deal if you're in the market. PM me and I'll shoot you his contact info.

Re: what benchtop blasting cabinet are you using?

I had to study that diagram a few times Doc! Thanks for the detail. The orifice on the Cyclone system is definitely smaller in diameter than the outflow nozzle so that seems right. I went over everything with them in substantial detail and none of the solutions worked so I'm done. In the words of Sp...

Re: what benchtop blasting cabinet are you using?

I'm sending the whole thing back. Who knows - maybe there's some sort of weird mismatch happening. Thanks for the input!

Re: what benchtop blasting cabinet are you using?

It's siphoning. I can tell because the pickup tube is clear and I can see the media being drawn to the nozzle. It just doesn't come out the nozzle. I took the nozzle apart and there are no obstructions. Also put my finger over the tip and blew the air out the back. One thing is that this new system ...

Re: what benchtop blasting cabinet are you using?

Air is coming out but no media. The media is pulled to the end of the tube where the nozzle is but it is not coming out the nozzle. At least I can't see it coming out in a stream. I can shoot the gun at my gloved hand from an inch away and I feel air pressure but no heat, even after 20 seconds or mo...

what benchtop blasting cabinet are you using?

Greetings! I've been using one of the Cyclone benchtop models (the old blue plastic one) for several years and decided to "upgrade." Apparently Cyclone now makes a new smaller unit that's steel. I've tried it with the equipped foot controlled gun but it only puts out 5 cfm. Cyclone sent me...

Re: replacement nozzles / tips for Cyclone benchtop blaster?

Like Jeremiah, I also replaced my cyclone gun with the trigger fed gun from tptools.com. If you buy the replacement gun kit it comes with everything you need. ( http://www.tptools.com/USA-Cabinet-Gun-and-Pickup-Tube-Upgrade-Kit,2320.html?b=d*8026 ) If you've got the cash, a carbide nozzle will prob...

Re: replacement nozzles / tips for Cyclone benchtop blaster?

Thanks Jeremiah. Upon inspection, my nozzle is pretty worn out as well - the I.D. is near 3/8! I did hear back from Cyclone and they suggest replacing the orifice as well as the nozzle, if not the entire trigger mechanism. I'm not sure about going that far - from what I can see the orifice looks rel...

replacement nozzles / tips for Cyclone benchtop blaster?

I thought this would be easier to figure out but I'm 45 min into web searching and coming up empty. I've got one of the Cyclone benchtop units that sold for around $300 a few years ago and included a siphon-fed gun. I'd like to try some different size nozzles and would rather buy them, if possible, ...

Re: Anyone else? (FDA response)

I spent some time last night on the FDA website and it looks pretty clear from the ruling that a briar pipe intended for smoking tobacco would be considered a "component" of the consumption of Nicotine and would therefore fall under FDA legislation. This would apparently mean that "ea...

South Bend 9A Lathe in Central MA - feeler

I'm considering moving up to a larger machine and would need to sell my SB if I go this direction. pm, or email me at: strollinjoe@gmail.com and we can talk price/specs/tooling included, etc. I'd like it to go to a pipemaker, and obviously I'm not gonna ship it, so I figured I'd put a feeler out fir...

Re: pipe 019 - critique me

Tyler, that line I suggested was to try to get the radius closer on the back to the way it is in the front. If the front/chin wasn't cut so dramatically, neither would the back. There's no specific one line/thickness, etc. that's gonna make a pipe look "right." You gotta first see what you...

Re: a mini metal lathe?

+1 on Craigslist. I got my South Bend 9" metal lathe there for 1K including a set of collets, steady rest, and a 3-jaw Cushman chuck. I sold the steady rest, collets, and a couple of other tools I didn't need and ended up paying about $200 net cost for the lathe.

Re: Your Best Barter Story

I know the guy on the other end of that one. I do know that guy, and the mandolin was a perfect upgrade for me, I shouldn't need another for a very long time. Bartering is quite often the best bet for me. I trade veggies for all the meats we eat, makes for a record low food bill every year. Not to ...

Re: Your Best Barter Story

I've also traded a mandolin and a fiddle for well over a year's supply of briar. I know the guy on the other end of that one. The "fiddle" was a golden period Stradivarius, the mandolin was a Lloyd Loar F5, and the wood was a load of sub-extra ebauchons that were tagged for fuel. In short...

Your Best Barter Story

One of the many things I enjoy about pipemaking is bartering. Today, for example, I ended up trading one of my pipes for a much needed repair to the AC in my house - completely unexpected. I've also traded a mandolin and a fiddle for well over a year's supply of briar. What say you? Let's hear the s...

Re: Northeastern meet-up / pig roast (Vermont) 8/17/14

Folks, I've been up to Steve's place. Frankly, it's not to be missed - and it's not just the place; Do yourself a favor and meet Steve, enjoy Vermont, and eat a pig. If I wasn't out of town that weekend I'd be there without hesitation, and I may change my plans just to get there!
