The sellers user ID is: ithinkim She currently has a ton of fancy stems .... 25 starting at $25. I ordered some from JHLOWE here a few weeks ago. they are nice. but the ones I ordered ended up having the hole at the very tip of the bit.... instead of seated on top. Oh well. they are still nice stems.

I have a standard 3/8 bit that I mark with masking tape to keep it 1/8 inch off where my finished out bottom would be...... then I have Forstner bits marked with tape as well.... 1/2........

As far as African Meer goes.... would you say that it is considered inferior because of the color..... or is there a matter of composition or density in play with that particular opinion?

Meerschaum sourcing?

I read a post below about a bulk source.... I was wondering if there is a vendor out there that sells by the block or by small parcels.

I am interested in making a few meers for the fun of it. Any leads on that?

I personally think walnut is more pretty than it is strong. I make rifle stocks and pistol grips as well .. and I use walnut for that.... Thing about walnut is it splits easily along the grain..... I also would be concerned about how quickly the mortise would wear out .. or worse.. break. I would de...

Who's the Boss?

I got to pondering this and thought I might ask it of all of you. Custom orders excluded, do you let the briar determine what type of pipe you make out of it? As a religeous thing? Or do you pick the wood around the "pipe"? Obviously most of the guys who choose the latter have a more than ...

I was also requested extra $5.00 so they would fit the stem to the kit, but nothing has been done to it........... Ok, about $9.00 into the garbage can. Unfortunately...... I have found that special requests arent their specialty. Hows your block? I always wondered if they "cherry picked"...

I used a dremel with a barrel shaped cutting bit and used the "corner".

The mortise face is recessed about a 1/16th... not only does this hide the fact that I dont have a lathe....... but allows the user to switch to a fancy military style stem.
