Re: Vivarium!
Any advice on where I can find a tutorial on making your own aquarium? I love keeping native fish, but my 30 and 55 just aren't big enough for the real monsters. I plan on getting some grass pickerel soon and someday I'll have my trout tank set up with a beast of a chiller.

Vårlovskniven
This is my latest knife. I don't have any of the knives I have made because I have a tendency to give them away to friends in need of a top quality knife  . I wanted a small knife to act as a detail knife when bushcrafting or woodcarving. This knife will replace my Fallkniven U2 for light ...

Re: This is actually normal in my house....
If you decide to tackle the project, let me know. I'm sure I can help you along with it. Well, you've convinced me. My friend and I have decided to try and make one. I've been heat treating on a forge and an electric ht oven would really allow for way better control over the process. Any chance you...

Re: Sharpest tool in the shed.
I once considered making knives. Then I received a knife from Ollie .... and reality hit like a ton of bricks. You should just go for it. It really isn't that hard to make a serviceable knife. What's really hard is making it look good and work well. So really just about anybody can make an ugly &qu...

+1 to what Kurt recommended. Also check out Jantz knife supply. Between them and Texas knife supply you should have just about everything you could possibly want. Not all stainless is bad. Many of the kits come in VG-10 which is a great steel. 440C is another good stainless choice. It's no superstee...

Walle, I have been watching your recent work and I absolutely love it. It's the closest thing I have seen to the pipes that I envision in my mind. The organic shapes are just awesome.

Re: Kurt ain't the only one makin' knives
That IS interesting... How does the spring engage? Or is it a friction folder and the "spring" just a spacer? I can't figure out the geometry from the exploded views. It is just a friction folder, but unlike others I have seen, I eliminated the protruding lever that usually sticks way out...

Sorry for posting tons of pictures, but I'm really happy with this knife and I just couldn't choose. I hope they are worth the loading time for you. Here's a bunch of shots of my latest scandinavian knife, my first folder. OAL: 5.5" Blade length: 2.5" distally tapered and fileworked Steel:...

Re: Something for me this time
Very nice for a first slippy! I'm making my first friction folder at the moment and a slipjoint is on the list as my next project or maybe a framlock. I agree that the design process can be VERY time consuming and labor intensive. Getting all the pieces to work right and to make it look good at the ...

Re: This one is going to Scotland...
That's what I figured. I'm on the British blades forum as well and the laws in the UK seem pretty strict. It's a shame it is impacting their traditions though which I believe are still protected under the law.

Re: This one is going to Scotland...
I worked with a guy from Scotland this summer and I had always thought that these knives were as big as the one you made, but he said most he's seen are more in the 1"-2" blade range. I wonder if that's tradition or pressure from UK knife legislation. Needless to say, I like the larger ver...
