Thanks again!

I sent you Ch. 1-4, didn't I?

Ch. 3 has more info on the pipe and stuff - Ch. 4 and five (which I'm working on right now) has more. An estate pipe comes into the picture...

A story with a pipe in it

Not a lead pipe.... I'm in the process of writing a story that has a pipe (A Dunhill 1/4 bend bulldog) as a primary focus. Greg Pease's tobacco is also mentioned. I'm wondering if anyone might be interested in reading it and offering feedback? Please let me know. I'm up to about 21 pages right now (...

Offer precarbing as an option, adding $40 to the price of the pipe maybe? Or maybe state that all pipes are precarbed, and if anyone should want a plain pipe that $10 would be added.... I dunno. The first one sounds best.

REPLY TO NICK!!! *smacks self for forgetting* Thanks! The Helmut Pipe: One of the things that I want to try to incorporate into all my pipes is a place to rest your ring finger. I hold my pipe(s) with my thumb on the stem-side of the bowl and my fore- and swearing finger on the front. I figure that ...

As I was developing my designs (still am, now that I think about it), I also have developed a couple of ideas for a grading system.... Signature: my signature is quite bizarre, and it took me the better part of two years to develop it. Therefore, the Signature grade will be the top line. Sigil: I de...

Hm! That was interesting. Frankly, the oil curing technique (Dunhill) makes sense. This is one of the reasons why oil-tempered steel is less brittle than water-tempered steel: the crystallization of the metal is altered by the viscosity of the oil and made smaller, where as with water the crystals a...

Yup. It deals with machining, carpentry, welding (B-pressure as well as pipe) among other things. I had little to do with it when I was involved with the policy-making of the institution, so I don't know a lot about it. I am taking a bar-tending course through them..... Anyway. Thoughts on my designs?

How thick you do "lay it on" on the interior of the bowl?

On the few pipes that I've seen that are precarbed, it looks thinner than 1/32"...much thinner, but I can't really tell

How thick do you make it?

Do you put the mix on the heel of the bowl as well?

When do you put the mix on: before or after staining/finishing the stummel?

Does it affect the flavour of the smoke past the first bowl?

Actually, it does, but it isn't open to me - I'm not in the workforce development program, and while I could twist some arms, I'd rather not. It's my last year before I transfer, you see. The greatest problem right now is getting briar. I'm very good with hand tools, so making pipes on a casual basi...

Pre-Carbonizing

Does anyone here pre-carb their pipe bowls? How do you do it?

I figure - just my idea, mind you - that you would either 1)smoke the pipe yourself, 2) use pipe mud to coat the insides of the bowl 3) use some sort of carbon insert the size of the bowl.

I'm curious - can anyone help ease this itch?
