To make the compund cut tapers it rotates 360 degrees. The mounting plate is made to go on the ways in one direction. The upper compound can be positioned any way you would like.

You realize that the post swivels around the base as well as moving in the X and Y directions so you can cut tapers and angles.

Cross feed for wood lathe

I have an xy cross feed I used to use on my wood lathe. It has a toolholder for square metal lathe cutters and allows you to make controlled cuts for using the lathe like a metal lathe if any one is interested. I was going to put it on ebay.

Replacing a broken tenon

I have a few broken tenons on some very ice pipes. I used to sedn them out to be fixed. Since I have made several stems from scratch I figured I could insert Delrin myself. I am have a problem gripping odd shaped stems in the 4 jaw. I have a set of pin gauges and find one that fits in the air hole a...

Thanks guys

I see how the chuck will work. My 4 jaw with two jaws removed works in a similar way. I tried Brad's chuck and having the pins at the end and the extended jaws works much better for complicated or larger shapes. I was going to buy a chuck from one of the two guys who make them but I am researching m...

Oneway

Thanks for the link. All of my blocks are Plateau and of course irregularly shaped. The stummel chuck grabs across two flat surfaces that are already there. This chuck looks like I would need to provide 4 sides to grab which would not allow off centering for drilling.

Stummel Chuck needed

I think he sold that chuck on ebay. I forgot to write that if any one has a review of either chuck I would be very interested in reading about it. I have made a bunch of pipes and now use my 4 jaw with two jaws removed. I want to move up to a deeper throat.

Stummel chuck

Hello
I am interested in purchasing a stummel chuck for my lathe. I have tried calling Ken Lamb but haven't heard from him yet, talked to Trent and his work seemed pretty good. Does anyone know of another chuck that is useable of if a used one might be available.
thanks

I have a lather compound made for a wood lathe. It bolts to the bed just like the toll rest and has a screw to feed the rocker post across the bed and a compound screw to move the feed at any angle. I was going to put it on Ebay but it is available if any body wants it.
