Re: Airway off center left to right
I am trying to visualize a 1/100” deviation and why you are distressed about it. I am pleased not to leave a significant dead space (1/2-1mm-0.02-0.04”) under the draft and to be within 1 mm (0.04”) of dead center laterally. I don’t think that you need better accuracy for smoking purposes. As I am ...

Re: Airway off center left to right
Ok, to be more accurate, I‘m specifically talking about the keyhole, the notch at the bottom of the mortise on bent pipes. If I cut this with a rigid endmill, it can’t be drill bit wander. Something is out of alignment. I’m thinking it might be from not having enough wood gripped by the chuck.

Re: Airway off center left to right
Yeah, so I square every block on the bandsaw. I also drill very slow. I really don’t think that’s it. I even cut the keyhole with an endmill, which is very rigid, and it’s a tad bigger than the drill bit.

Airway off center left to right
This has been driving me nuts lately. When I drill an airway in a bent pipe on the lathe, the airway is often off center on the left–right axis. It’s a pretty small amount, usually like 1/100th of an inch or so. This is most noticeable in the keyhole. It seems to me like the airway moves towards the...

A grizzly metal lathe. I was able to have Oneway make an adapter for my oneway chuck.

Re: Briar jaws - 1 3/4 x 8 spindle
Yeah that’s what I mean. Yeah, a 3 jaw chuck and a 4 jaw chuck that came with it. After posting, I did find posts of you saying to chuck a briar chuck into a 3 jaw. If that’s what I have to do, then that’s what I’ll do.

Thank you. That's very helpful. It was hard to come up with a decent drawing without tilting the bowl.

Oneway Talon Spigot Jaws Wobble
Material wobbles in my spigot jaws. At first, if I kept loosening and retightening the stock in the jaws, it would magically be fine and spin perfectly. Over time, it got worse. Now, 99% of the time, the stock wobbles off center. I can't drill a piece of delrin on center and it's really annoying. Ho...
