Re: my third work

Congratulations on a very fine third pipe. What a nicely grained piece of wood too. Your technical skills look to be well on the way to a high level. My friendly criticism would be to have drawn in the "chin" and moved the lowest point to just about even with the back of the tobacco chambe...

Cumberland Rod Swap??

Anyone want to swap some Cumberland ( Hamburger ) for black Ebonite rod?
( I have 22mm x 15.5 inch )
I suddenly need a rod of the Hamburger Cumberland for a specific pipe and all I have is
large dia. SEM stock.
Any help would be most welcome.
Thanks to all,

Hi Chris, I concur with the advice already offered and the opinions of the work. If you were a guitar player, I'd suggest you practice your scales in all keys and numerous tempos and try to learn to play the Blues well before you try to pick off complicated riffs by the guitar gods. The good news is...

Thanks Scott. They really are useful to enhance a great cigar.
And they convey a bit of extra class, I believe. 8)

The UCMs

I haven't formally introduced these here. The Ultimate Cigar Mouthpiece is a high end cigar holder that incorporated the same exotic woods, design principles and artisan quality that I put into my pipes. They have met with great success and as far as I know, are the only pieces of their kind made an...

I think I got it now.
I tightened up some of the lines.
Again, a nice first effort.

Nice first effort. It has a vaguely PreRepublic Petersen look to it. I like the general shape. I would suggest tightening the definition lines at the "jowls" of the bowl, raising the chin a touch and smoothing out the bottom line. The top of the shank/stem line is a nice clean arc. It woul...

I saw Ben's latest pipes in KC and they look very good.
He had a couple that just begged to be smoked.
My compliments to you,Ben.

First off, I really like the shape and I get that it isn't quite where you want it, but it's still pretty nice. The over buffing is a bit distracting, but my main thought would be to have the edges sharper - all over. Sanding them to sharper edges would really make the shape pop with drama. I know i...

Thanks for the kind words folks.
And yes Bill, I will make more - actually some of these are still for sale.

LatakiaLover - the bit on that pipe fits into a countersink in the olivewood shank extension.

Best to all,
Steve
