Naw, just a PITH (last year's, to be specific).

Re: How to focus...Advice

Here's an alternate idea to consider: find an oval shank pipe on the internet that has pictures available from every angle (ebay, smokingpipes.com, whatever). Make sure it's not so ambitious that you won't be able to reproduce it. Now make as many perfect copies as you can, paying attention to all t...

Re: General Expoy, Resins and Glues

Epoxy for areas that you need time and won't be affected by heat. Ca glue for areas that may warm up. So with this in mind, CA for delrin tenons?? sent from my blah-dee-blah using hooty-hoo In my understanding, CA fails at lower temperatures than epoxy, though their heat resistances are relatively ...

Nice work. PM me if you'd like some tips on getting a bit more micro texture in the rustication. This is an area of of constant research for me so I've got lots of ideas on the subject.

Blast half a pipe for me?

Howdy folks. I have a commission I'm working on where the customer wants it partially blasted. I can't do that part, but I know some of you will have mentioned being willing to be subcontractors for blast work. I would need a pretty quick turnaround. Any takers?

If you don't already have a huge beard, grow one. Then print up some t-shirts evoking skulls/pipes/mototcycle imagery. Get on social media. Post pictures of the wonky pipes, perhaps alternating every fourth post with a picture of your newest rainbow-galvanized clown face shaped brass knuckles ostens...

I did my first few pipes using a Dremel with a sanding drum bit. Works fine, but you do get absolutely covered in briar dust.

Well, I'm out. Had one going pretty well, accidentally took a chunk out of the shank, started over. Second one I ended up taking too much off the bottom line. Third one ended up with goofy proportions when I was turning it on the lathe. I keep making dumb mistakes that I really should know better th...

Re: 2nd Pipe For Critique Please - Small Volcano

I would hold off on the shellac for a while longer. Learn how to get it super shiny on its own first. Shellac won't take a pipe from dull to shiny, but it can take a pipe from "shiny as heck" to "shiny as hell." It will also help keep it a little shinier for a little longer, and ...

You made the whole stem out of delrin? At any rate, if you already know your stem is off, I won't add anything there. The finish on the stummel isn't great. It looks like you did a good job of sanding out the scratches, but your shank is lump as evidenced by the fact that you don't have a single li...
