Pipe Maker Website

Hi! I start a new web-service for pipe makers. Any of you can get a free website for hosting your pipes photos. I tried to make it really suitable for our purposes. You can get the free 3rd level domain like smith.briar.club or buy your own 2nd level domain from any registrar. In the second case jus...

Yes, I really need some optimization for my working process. Now I can make just 6-8 pipes a month if I don't do anything else (I have the second job). I think I can work faster if optimize some phases.

Pipe making video

Hi! Here is my movie about how I make my pipes. I have compiled it half a year ago with russian voice. Now it's translated to english. Sorry for my language, I hope everything is understandable. I tried to make it shorter, but I can't find anything unnecessary to cut from video. So it lasts about 50...

Re: My latest pipe Would you call this a poker?

Calling pipe as u want isn't crime :)
I would call it a poker. Cherywood, i think, is a bent-poker. This one is almost straight.

You may call it "friendly" as well. Dunhill used this name for straight-shank but bent-stem pokers:

Re: Wait, are you guys using delrin tenons?

I use derlin for thin-shank straight pipes like canadians and pencil-lovats. Derlin is strong anough even in 7mm width. Integral tenon must be at least 8.5mm if hole width is 4 mm.

Re: wood checking/cracking.

What does everyone use to stop wood cracking in inlays, extensions etc. Stop or prevent? If cracking started, my advise is to sand tenon a little bit to reduce the pressure on mortise. To prevent cracking I just don't make shank too slim. For example, if mortise width is 7mm, shank width is not les...

Re: Answer this, if you please

Tobacco smoking has already progressed to cigarettes, will progress to electronic cigarettes. Tobacco pipes now are for those who reject a progress. Such smokers will not search new technologies and follow innovations. They will love oldschool briar pipes even in 300 years, when mainstream nicotine ...

Re: First pipe

Shank-to-stem line will not break, if you sand pipe gathered. Don't work with stem and stumble separately after lathe jobs. Stem on the button side seems to be too narrow. Comfortable width is about 18 mm. Wood is not likely material for stem. It is inconvenient for teeth, it swells in saliva, it is...

Where/how did you learn English so well, if I may ask? I thought my English is awful. I have to use dictionary twice for a sentence  didn't come from a few classes in secondary school. Soviet education was really good. It seems stupid, but foreign languages learning inside the iron curtain was...

Re: My pipes

1) sand your tobacco chambers better if you're going to leave them natural Never thought it's important. Ok, I will send. Thanx for advice! 2) your buttons are too thin. I have experimented to find ideal button shape, and found that button like boxing mouth guard is really comfortable. but consider...
