Staining didn't go as planned. That centre band was supposed to match the rim. Oh well. More concerned about thoughts on shaping? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210106/6c0ec616586ac6f8c2829a450a2388b8.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210106/495ed27e24ce87f388325de3d3003d48.jpg https://uplo...

And then if I shorten the shank, and then necessarily also shorten the stem, suddenly it's a billiard. Shank could be a hair thinner too I suppose. https://i.imgur.com/AvYhx08.jpg This is the "smaller pipe" that Tyler mentioned on facebook. It's in there. Anyway good job, you're on the ri...

Getting on the "make a billion billiards" train. Here's the first go ... Not quite a billiard? Don't worry, I'll Sand the chamber out. I keep getting dye in there when I'm certain I'm careful I also cracked the button but wanted to finish as is. Any thoughts/suggestions/critiques? https://...

Re: Critique for another crappy pipe?

Thanks folks that was helpful. I was up at 4a.m. today so went out and got going with the rustication again and sanding the chamber/rim (once I stained the rim I saw more marks left still - what a pain). Decided to go with a different stain too as my tan appears to have turned more orange than brown...

Critique for another crappy pipe?

I'm slowly getting better, but know I'm still a far ways off. Any feedback is appreciated :) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201226/e4694b29ef079064cb90c4459a166269.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201226/6795326387d98bf9eda77665a87cb919.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201226/2540dc5...

Re: Need Help - Close Up's Of Shank/Stem Interface - Pic Hea

I use this device for pre molded stems for turning the tenon and facing the shoulder: https://pipesmokersforum.com/community/threads/heavy-duty-tenon-turner.61370/#post-1530179 The tenon is held in a live center. You can do this with your Delrin tenon, but the axes may not be exactly concentric. Ad...

I use 3M Worktunes. They are Bluetooth noise cancelling (not active, though). I love them. Holds a charge forever too

Rusticated billiard

I started this many months ago and finally finished the rustication and stained it this week. I smoked it a couple times over the last few months so already have some chatter marks on the stem but see some bear claws on the stem now that it's polished. Any feedback is very welcome. Will have to look...

Re: PITH 2019!!!

I think I would like to finally sign up this year. I know my pipe won't be great, but more worried about the quality of feedback I'm able to provide.

Re: First pipe in a while

Thanks buddy! I was surprised how tricky rustication is. I need to sharpen the nails a bit better I think.

Some helpful advice here!

First pipe in a while

It had been quite a while since I attempted to make something resembling a pipe (over a year?). I know there's lots to improve, so open to everything and anything you can offer for advice on improving. What would you focus on most on the next one? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190224/4a2191da75...
