Hello members

For those who actually, painful as it is, can't afford a real handmade Mänz... there is a line "designed by" C. Mänz.

It's just one model in three finishes....

Hello Blackboot,

No pipe should aggressively be smoked, juist to my opinion. I own two Stannie featherweights. A 243 and a no-number sandblasted bamboo. I can't smoke these pipes. Maybe Todd is right, I should smoke shag-cut. Fact is that I prefer the flake-cut or ready rubbed....

Well, Gentlemen, the fun ain't over yet. This finish started by the name "Flotsam". Later on Roger changed it to "Driftwood" which means the same. He described it as "Bahnhofspennerunterhosenfinish". I won't translate this word because after that london Leatherboys thre...

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1623/vulpen.gif I was wondering if the "real" steampunk pipe would excist. The answer is yes. An Austrian pipesmoker/collector send me pictures of a pipe that was made for the company Page-Hersey in Toronto, probably before WWII. The pipe is still in good ...

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1623/vulpen.gif Well, Roger warned that it could be worser than it still was. To my opinion he isn"t right. Actually I don't agree with him, for what it is worth.... In the 2 new finishes, Roger call them stage 3 and 4 he has made 2 Longfords, 2 Dromolands and ...

Well Todd, I think you're right. And I think that's the great problem of the big pipe-factories... the lack of inspiration. By so many "novelties" I think: I've seen that before. That's why I have great respect for those freehand carvers who try to make pipes by an idea, by inspiriation, w...

Well,.. I'm not sure of that. I think that Roger would advise to break those pipes in with C&D da Vinci. Fact is that I doubt if there is a difference between that and "the other stuff".. I am curious where the second pipe (third picture) has been gone. I was really in for that ...

Wallenstein "graffiti"serie

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1623/vulpen.gif A well respected gentleman on this forum called Roger Wallenstein insane. To proof his insanity -or is he just a genius??- I'm writing this thread. A couple of months ago Roger gave me the honour to introduce his "graffity"serie in the 2 Ge...

Hi Daniel, In fact that was what I was thinking about. I saw some "steampunk artwork" and saw that very much is related to the steam-era or the victorian era. Why not, e.g. replace parts of the mouthpiece by metal-elements?? Or e.g. make a pipe that smokes "cooler" by a metal tub...

steampunk pipe

As I am a really newbie in this forum I'm wondering what is the definition of a so called "Steampunk" pipe. Are they, beyond the pipes of Daniel, more examples, pictures or threads about this item??

Hi Daniel,

I'm observing your style of making pipes. I haven't read all your posts and their comments. I like the "rough" surfaces of some pipes. I really like the "nature way"they look. If you call that steampunk pipes... than .. yes I'm waiting for more steampunk pipes. :D

Well... to my opinion you need just to be a little insane to survive in this crazy world. And as a gentleman said in de sixties: "That's one small step for Wallenstein, one giant leap for mankind"

Well, to my opinion... I wouldn't call it trendy. For me is trendy a way to sell just pipes, doesn't matter what they look like. Some call Roger a dadaïst and I think that's the way he only wants to make his pipes (as he says on the video made by Otto&Kopp). I think that this finish is a result ...

Wallenstein Longford in Driftwood finish

Hello members, I became a huge fan of the Wallenstein "smoking objecs". In the discussions about colours and finishes he presented his "Driftwood" finish. I saw the pipe and was fascinated by the shape. I couldn't make the link the sea and this pipe/finish. Until I came at the se...
