#10 Longshanked poker?

I even don't know if something like longshanked poker exists. If not, I believe it should ;) Self-critique: - I still can't handle with the final finish. I tried few ways and can't achieve the mirror finish and contrast staining - I'm not entirely happy about the stem. Though, I believe it looks bet...

Hi guys. I'm sorry for such a delay but I had a misunderstanding with my internet provider. Firstly, I'd like to thank you for a whole bunch of comments. Secondly, there's been pointed out some issues. I'll try to refer to those major ones. Forgive me if I skipped some comments. Jeremiah, you're rig...

My latest pipe. Thank you for any comments. Self-critique: - Stem leaves a lot to be desired. Working on it but without luck so far - I forgot to taper the shank towards the stem Is there anything else I could improve? http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p454/Vaymar/1_zpss6smdld3.jpg http://i347.phot...

Re: #8

Sorry for such a late response. I'm trying to spend as much time as possible in my workshop now. Unfortunately, (simply as a matter of personal attraction) your pipe doesn't work for my taste. I'd love to see that same pipe made the way you originally marked it on the briar. It would be a great-look...

Re: #8

It's pretty obvious that you sanded the bottom off. Why would you do that? I honestly can't recall. From time to time I feel irresistible urge of doing something unconventional. I thought it would look good then. For some reason I'm feeling a little bit sheepish now. I'm glad I didn't write in subj...

Hi guys. I'd like to share some thought with you before I start. Every time when I finish new pipe I'm pleased with final result ... more or less. But when I take the photos of it, I end up with "what a crap". Every single time. My conclusion is, it's not easy to make a good looking pipe. ...

Re: #7 Dublin ... ish

Thank you, for your comment. Second, you have some wavy reflections on the shank which mean that there is unevenness in shaping. I know what you mean. But these reflections are caused by uneven coat of carnauba. I don't know what happened but I did it as same as before. I don't try to rush the whole...

#7 Dublin ... ish

I'd like to say something good about this pipe. But I find it difficult to figure out what could that be. - I don't like its final shape. My routine when I choose a shape for the next pipe is simple. I find a pipe which I like and adapt it to the level of my skills. - Contrast staining is still the ...

#6 Long-shanked

Hi guys. This is my latest pipe. I'd like to hear what you think about it. In general, it's very similar to my 5th pipe. It's still straight, long-shanked pipe with a different bowl shape. I tried to gather all your comments and use them. So there is still wooden inlay. I tried to keep it as simple ...

Hello folks. It's been a long, long time since my last visit on PMF. Long story short, I needed a time to collect some funds to implement some major changes in my workshop. Once again I reach out for your help. Self critique: - Mouthpiece could have been done better. But it was my first hand cut ste...

Re: #4 Zulu

Thank you for your comments. Why did you make the rim darker than the rest of the pipe? From time to time I like to try a different ideas. Most of them end up badly like this one but hey, I'm a beginner ;) The smaller one's stem still has too much material from the shank to a point about 60% of the ...

Hi guys. My fourth pipe turned out to be my first commissioned pipe so it has a special meaning to me. I'm pretty much sure there is still something that can be done better. Can you help?

PS. For a better view I made a comparision with my third pipe.

Re: #2 Freehand

While I was making this particular pipe I have experienced a lot of contradictory emotions. At the end there was only frustration caused by a lack of ability of making a decent pipe.
Anyway, I got my lesson and I won't repeat all these mistakes.
Thanks for all these words of encouragement.
