Re: Secret to buffing near the button?

I got some awakening calls when i visited Eltang, anyone else got that feeling of being totaly free from IQ. I got it bigtime there hahaha. Most of the work is done by s...

I see you have a serious crusch on Lady Erica Arborea, nice grain and you placed the pipe perfect in the block, the spots you have to learn to live with they will never stop trying to destroy your expectations of a block. Good to see you manage the finish and before long you will master the staining...

i would stain some briardust and use superglue, use a needle and fill very gently both dust and glue. Other glues often change when heated and the filling can turn out as a bulb at the filling. But try on a piece of scrap briar first.

The shape needs some time for my mind to accept it, everything out of the ordinary is creative so i can´t say it´s wrong or out of order. But i really need time to take it in, good work very creative

you need to X-ray the blocks to avoid such flaws and who have the time or money to do that. Mimmo can´t garantie the inside of the blocks but it´s sad it happens. Some days are lucky ones other is expensive. I have had 4 blocks this week 3 last week, but the blocks will heat my house instead so that...

the hard part is to remove the dark stain even so the pipe doesn´t have the light top dark middle and light bottom. Or it´s just the pic. that is making impression of it? First pic. that is

to get the best staining i guess you have to darkstain the whole pipe at first and sand it off to the effect you want, for the edge work a dremel is perfect and after you can use 400 grit paper on a piece of profiled wood so the sharp edges isn´t ruined.

you have great talent when it comes to the shaping but the finish still needs to improve for reach up to the exelent shapes you make. Do you use shellac on your pipes? The problem from what i can see is that the stains you use is mixing into eachother making a misty look to the stain, otherwice the ...

The shape is beautiful nothing to say about that, the stain however could be more clear. Perhaps it´s the picture that hides the grain if so i like to see more pics. Great work

as long as you keep the stuff away from the tobacco chamber there is no need to be afraid of poison effects, the stain is about 1-2 mm into the wood so no need to worry

The final result is going to be a pit black surface with some crystal like coating. i used hairdryer for speeding the reaction once but i think the normal speed is the best way to gain a...
