It boggles the mind to see in person how effortlessly he can make a stem. Absolute gorgeous work George!

Re: Spaceship/Blowfish

Thanks for the feedback seamonster, the draft is dead on, I think it's an illusion due to the pic I took. Pipe is slightly tilted and I didn't get straight on shot of bowl. I find pushing my boundaries to be very fun, testing what I can do, tool usage to accomplish what I'm aiming for. I came really...

Spaceship/Blowfish

Hi guys, haven't posted much recently. This is the first freehand drilled pipe I've done, there are a couple things I should have done to make it easier on myself, but now I know what I need to do, somewhat 😁. I know this is not a standard shape, but please offer any critique you see fit. Spaceship/...

Ha, that's funny Doc. I just made one like yours out of plexi also. I have a J.Alan 4" and so, made a 6", just gotta get some coarser sheets of paper for it now.

Re: Reamer for Mortise?

Like LL says, and I'll add. Decide on a few tenon sizes you will use and then find a drill bit, whether it be letter, number or fractional, that is a few thousandths smaller than your chosen tenon size, use said drill first and then follow up with the chucking reamer.

Re: Rad Davis collector's tribute

Hey Rick, I'm gonna give this a shot. Go ahead and prep your bite zone, polish to make sure no waves, dips etc. Then bend and correct lines while blending into the bite zone. I'm sure George will correct me if I'm wrong

How is everyone doing? There are a few that are requesting more time and I suggest maybe we extend to August 10 or a later date. Re: Correcting a Pipe's Manufacturing Errors (video set)

A huge improvement from what I saw the other day. It was great to see the process/steps involved to do something like this. Thanks again George for putting these videos up, they have helped me improve my thought processes in planning each step beforehand.

Buffing wheels

What is the general consensus on buffs using the menzerna compounds? Use linen/flannel for all steps or ? Looking to change buffs if needed and need to know what I should get. What manufacturers for decent buffs at not bank breaking prices. I'm using 8" wheels. I'm looking at you George and Jer...

Re: RC Volcano stem

I think it looks good. I also use pippins for that area, then flats on the blade. I go into a sort of Zen state while working like that, and the process is less painful. DocAitch Yea Doc, you almost gotta zone out somehow, in order to get through it. I may need to grab a coarser pippin to help in q...
