Re: Dublin bamboo stem

Thanks Jeremiah, the transition did melt away a little when blasting. I thought I should thin the blade more, thanks for confirming.

Dublin bamboo stem

Ok guys I'm working on this and need some guidance, what would you do with the shaping on the stem? Leave it as is or change anything in particular. Thanks for any input. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zc4igjq80juitym/20181216_124702.jpg?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ribzil4umo3fxy/20181216_124718.jpg?...

Thanks Doc, you know last month marked my 1yr Ann'y for pipe-making. I had no clue that I would enjoy it this much.

Re: prince 11/19/18 completed

Not a bad looking pipe, but I feel like it's an apple masquerading as a prince. Yes it is a little more appleish, but the guy who wanted it wanted one like I had made before. He is very happy with it and just messaged me today to tell me he has 14 pipes, some higher end estates and a handmade Sav. ...

Re: Making a Faceted Stem from Vulcanite Rod Stock (video se

Premal is now carrying the carving bits for $12ea on his storefront rawkrafted.com that's cheaper than what I paid a few months ago from another online shop. Watch your pressure, I snapped one the second time I used one.

Re: prince 11/19/18

I think it looks great. I do agree that it is tallish, but bowl shape varies from maker to maker (and from pipe to pipe for me) You also caught the grain about as well as you can for a prince. Also, keep up whatever you are doing with the photos, I can see these on my iPad. DocAitch Thanks Doc, It ...

I like it, love that finish. Are you brushing with a wire wheel or something?

Re: prince 11/19/18

Thanks guy's, I've started a different process for shaping my transitions and it's a lot quicker for me too. So that's a big plus. I'm also using a wheel a little more confidently, just need to go ahead and get the French wheel now.

Thanks Sas, this was a request to do one like I had already done. Was more for my transition shaping, should of clarified that in the original post.

Working on another Prince for a guy, how's my shaping on this one. He wanted one like I had done that was based on a Former Prince that I saw.

volcano with bamboo 10/27/18

Another attempt at bamboo. Bamboo "divot" not as clean as I'd like ( Jeremiah gave me a tip on how he does it and i need to order more tools :D ) I could have done a little larger radius on the top of the transition I think. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ict0k2vlt40skw4/20181027_112831.jpg?dl=...

Re: Alien Egg sitter, maybe?

I don't love it, but that's just my personal flavor coming into the picture. What I do like is on the top side pic how you carry the shape of the shank into the shape of the stem...that looks pretty cool. The profile shot of the blade of the stem looks like it may be a little wavy judging by the li...
