Re: Vacuum cleaners
Good day! Isn't it a very expensive toy? In Russia, such a vacuum cleaner costs $ 1500. Look towards the Attix 33 from the same manufacturer. It's slightly more powerful. It looks like it has the same filter cleaning functions. And most importantly, it is almost three times cheaper. And in terms of ...

Re: First Prince, but he died safely ...
Thanks Wayne! I've seen your work. You make very good pipes. I want to come back to your site again and again to see these pipes again. I need to grow and grow to your level. The only question is how much to grow? It looks like I started making classic molds too early, I'm not ready to make them yet...

First Prince, but he died safely ...
Good day! I have been without briar for the past week. The Briard that I ordered was driving towards me rather slowly. It was necessary to kill time and I decided to try to make my first prince. I had 2 ebauchons of trash briar, bought special for making models of future pipes. I used one of these e...

Help with the choice of paint.
Good day Probably about six months ago, I had the idea to make a smoking pipe in the form of a segment of red Sicilian orange. That was my twelfth pipe. What you will see now is only a model of a future smoking pipe. Since the form is rather complicated to manufacture, I had to check the possibility...

Re: Stainless steel inverse spike
For me, new experience comes first. Everything turned out to be far from simple. The second day is already tormented. The stainless steel tube was not perfectly round (I am an idiot, it could not be different). The difference in diameter in one section is 6.1 mm, in the perpendicular 6.05 mm. The tu...

Re: Extra - contrasting color of the briar.
I write posts mainly at work. I can’t do pipes at work, but I can write posts when I have free time. I am a test engineer. There are objects for testing means there is work. There are no objects - I'm smoking. I make pipes at home in the evening. But I can’t sit and wait for it to come. The experien...

Re: The size of the briar blocks from Catalonia.
Thanks Sasquatch! Your comments, as always exhaustive. In Russia, we have only the Italian briar. But there is no Spanish, Greek and Algerian Briard, I just wanted to work with them, too. I don’t and never will have a sandblasting machine, so my lot is good smooth pipes. (My workshop is my apartmen...

Stainless steel inverse spike
Good day. I want to make a pipe with a invers spike from a steel tube. The tube of stainless steel. Somewhere I saw something like that. I did not find anything on the forum. Is this an option? Did this lead to an excessive concentration of moisture in the smoke duct? There are tubes with a cooler, ...

Re: Extra - contrasting color of the briar.
A good finish on the briar makes it look like mother of pearl. The second color appears in different shades. After grinding black and painting with a second color, the second color is very even, all the shades in it disappear. This is what I call the “Kill” briar. Regards, Odissey [/quote] It will ...

Re: Violin and cello, the work on which I finished today.
The differences in English and Russian are so great that all the time I am very worried about the quality of the translation. In English, the sentence is always in the first place subject and predicate. All other words in the sentence are strung on them. We do not say so and cannot speak according t...
Re: 2nd Pipe
Visually there is a feeling that the bowl is slightly more than necessary tilted back. It would be better if it was perpendicular to the shank. There is less “meat” left on the cheeks of the bowl than necessary. At least another 1.5 - 2 mm on each side is needed. The joint of the shank and the bowl ...

Re: Extra - contrasting color of the briar.
I understood your post, just not the need to go through such toil. But, if you've got the extra time on your hands- go for it. I came to this forum because I really want to reduce the time spent on the manufacture of a smoking pipe. We all come here for knowledge and tips that can improve our skill...

Re: Extra - contrasting color of the briar.
I use a combination of aniline (alcohol) dyes and water soluble dyes. With your iron acetate chemical staining, did you sand to reveal the grain or just try adding a top stain? Many folks get a nice contrast but you have to lightly sand off the black from the iron acetate. I've gotten pretty good r...

Re: Extra - contrasting color of the briar.
I use FIEBING'S LEATHER DYE to paint my pipes. In my opinion, all pipe cutters all over the world work mainly with this skin stain. It seems that the translator did not cope with the translation, since you did not understand this.

Extra - contrasting color of the briar.
Good day! I don’t know if the translator can handle it, but I’ll try. My first attempts to get extra - contrasting color on briar wood ended in complete failure. Black Leather Dye did not want to soak deep into the briar. I decided that I would try chemical staining. I poured steel wool over with ac...

Re: The size of the briar blocks from Catalonia.
Also, I will add: every seller has good stuff. Every buyer wants it. Every day, the briar cutters get an email asking for 3 of the very best pieces they ever saw, and probably can you give me a discount too? Treat the cutters nice, order lots of wood, be friendly, pay what they ask... and you will ...

Good morning!
In this case, it does not matter what it is called, the main thing is that you can smoke well and the pipe is beautiful.

Violin and cello, the work on which I finished today.
Good day! Today I finished another pipe and I want to show you it. First, a little history. The first pipe that you see I made almost two months ago. She got the name "Drunken Violin". It seems that everything turned out, except for one, the degree of intoxication of the violin seemed to m...
