Thanks guys very much. Yes Rad I have noticed you put the briar to very good use. Ben I really like the bulldog too. I tell you its just really neat to see the progression of everyone. Kurt, Brad, John, Love, Rad, Ben, and Jeff you guys are doing some incredible work. I see some relatively new folks...

This is my last pipe **Lots of pics**

Some of you probably remember me (some of you won't). I stopped making pipes awhile back for various reasons and sold all my supplies and most (not all) my equipment sometime ago. I think Rad bought most of my best briar. Anyway, I had this stummel laying around almost completly done with stem blank...

Re: French Boxwood

I love the look of it. I was given a small piece of it by Kirk Bosi. Tried turning some of it down, but ended up trying to take too much off at once, and it got ripped out of the chuck and thrown (OOPS). Anyway, it's cracked. Tried finding it online, and cannot find it anywhere. Bought a piece of b...

Going out of pipe making sale **LOTS of pictures

All, My life has changed in a short amount of time and I will no longer be making pipes. Nothing bad has happened--all is going well--I just have other things I want to concentrate on. As a result, I'm selling my equipment, briar, and rod stock--there's just no sense in having all of it sitting in t...

Scott,
I really like these small gems you're turning out. Looks like a very comfortable stem and its looks light enough to be a very comfortable clencher too. Nice work.

I really like the way you're making "bamboo"--I remember one other pipe you did where you made a piece from boxwood (I think is was boxwood). The shape reminds me of "The Hungry Caterpillar"--I don't know why but that was what popped in my mind when I saw it. I love the pipe and ...

Seth, You're improving with every pipe--your progress is exceptional given this is only your sixth pipe. You're doing really well and I can't wait to see your work 12 months from now. As for stamps, Brownell's actually has 3/32" stamps for marking gun barrells--I prefer 3/32" myself. http:...

Tim West has some decent bamboo--I think he gets it from Tsuge. His email address is; Twest1@columbus.rr.com

Thanks for the pointers guys. Brad, I might take you up on that offer. I've been wanting to try the shaping before drilling technique for awhile now. This weekend I may just go for it.

Best everyone,
Dave

That's a great looking pipe Kurt! That's impressive getting your bits so thin! I use a 1/16" drill bit (.0625) for the last 1" or so of the stem. If I go down to .130" that only leaves approximately .032 (+ or - .005 or so) on either side of the slot. Have you had any bite throughs or...

Thanks you guys! This was my take on a Bo Nordh shape I saw awhile back. I'm very please with how it came out--I wasn't able to get the shank as thinly profiled as Bo's though. I gave this one to a good friend of mine from Church and I'm looking forward to hearing a smoking report on it. The one BIG...

I just received some Boxwood from these folks... http://www.gilmerwood.com/index.html I got some really nice pieces from them but the $100 minimum order was tough to swallow at first but now that I actually have the wood I'm glad I made the purchase. As much of the stuff I use it's worth it. Really ...

Absolutely beautiful! The Tulip is my favorite with the Logo running a close second. The inlay on the Tulip is incredible--mazuer birch? I'm going to have to look into that stuff.

That's a great setup Rad. Someday I'm going to have to spring for a bigger compressor. My compressor eventually falls behind and doesn't catch up. I'm gonna need a bigger one.

Nice looking blast too Rad! You know, I didn't really like blasted pipes at first but now I absolutely love them.
