Re: Italian acrylic rod vs other acrylic rod

So, I went and did something here, I looked through my lists on facebook, to see if I could find you, Josh. And I have done, and what this allows, what this helps with, is it personalized things - it makes it so it's not just usernames and a keyboard. It's people. You obviously know who I am too, s...

Re: Italian acrylic rod vs other acrylic rod

I don't recall seeing the thread here but I did see it mentioned on facebook that Baldo Baldi had died, I don't remember seeing much of a response there. This is primarily an English speak forum, I doubt many here would have had much/any interaction with Baldi or possibly even known the name? I met...

Re: Italian acrylic rod vs other acrylic rod

Dude, you are barking up the wrong fucking tree. I posted the link I posted because it's great. It's true. And it's you. You don't think it's you, but it is. You can't just buy the same briar and rod everyone else does, you want an angle. Okay. Have it. But don't expect anyone to care about it. Is ...

Thought so..... Hi LatakiaLover Oh trust me... I do not plan to be posting here much longer. Comi...

Re: Italian acrylic rod vs other acrylic rod

There are lots of little variations in hardness and quality. It's not super expensive stuff, so if you can get cast rod locally, great, give it a shot. Find out if they are vendors or manufacturers, and see what they have, and whether it's good enough for pipes. The big deal with pipe stuff is that...

Italian acrylic rod vs other acrylic rod

Hello everyone. I'm hoping I can get some feedback on this. I am currently sourcing materials, and I am not sure what to make of acrylic rod being promoted as “Italian”. I know that Italian pipemakers like to use acrylic for the stems, but is there something special about acrylic rod made in Italy, ...

Re: How Do You Cant Your Billiard Block?

Sorry for the submission. Question answered by fellow forum member in a PM Thank you. Is there only one answer to this question? You bring up a good question, and now I'm curious. I'm guessing the block is shimmed, or maybe, there is some sort of locking mechanism on a lathe or fancy jig that can l...

Re: Name that stain?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have placed an order for three 4oz Fiebing's Dyes, based on the suggestions here: Oxblood, Red, and Black. So for now, all the Fiebing's colours I can work with will be Cordovan, Tan, Dark Brown, Oxblood, Red, and Black. Once I get the Cordovan dye on my first pipe,...

Name that stain?

It's a Castello pipe I have had on file for years. I have finished my first pipe, but it still needs a stain/dye, which is currently in the mail being delived. I have the Fiebing's Cordovan coming in the mail (among a couple others), but I don't think this castello pipe is Cordovan. What is it? Oxbl...

Baldo Baldi Passed Away

Just found out about this an hour ago, and noticed 4 internet sources acknowledging that Italian pipemaker Baldo Baldi died on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, 2021. "Maurizio Fraternale, from Ser Jacopo, who also represented Baldo's pipes, wrote this on facebook....": "... Dear smoking friends a...

Customs duty/tariff charges when purchasing from suppliers

Hello. I am located in Ontario Canada, and whenever I order smoking related items from smokingpipes, and other american online retailers, I am always prepared to get hit with massive duty charges by canada customs officials. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens a lot, especially when I ord...
