Re: Yet another way to start a slot
Good Stuff.
I messed up a couple of slots holding by hand as well so now I use my drill press and pen vise. My drill press's shelf (Shopsmith) has a lever to move it in and out, so I just put the stem in the vice and pull the lever.
Not the best methodology I am sure, but it works for me

So check it out, my lovely daughter gave me a brand new Zippo lighter! Take a look: http://www.billboylepipes.com/uploads/8/9/3/2/8932036/7364938_orig.jpg Well I guess you can't really see the engraving on it in the above photo, so here is another one: http://www.billboylepipes.com/uploads/8/9/3/2/8...

On cell phone sorry short.
Try this order:
Release red button
Put in f or r
Push green button
I do like above and never touch f\r switch when running. On my 920 these magnetic switches.

Re: 20 years
Whoops!
Change the "though sometimes" to "It's not like I am" - really just hiding and having a beer in the shop instead
cause I don't hide my beer, I raise my jug to the sky!

Re: 20 years
Thanks much guys, and congrats on the 15 and both the 25s! For me, with the day job, wife, kids, etc, pipe making as a hobby works out great. Most steps in making a pipe take about 15 minutes and that's usually all I get. So if I can grab a couple hours on the weekend to knock out the lathe work the...

20 years
My wife and I have been married for 20 years this week. As her gift to me I got both some shop time and to keep this pipe I made for myself. http://www.billboylepipes.com/uploads/8/9/3/2/8932036/7725729_orig.jpg http://www.billboylepipes.com/uploads/8/9/3/2/8932036/8155044_orig.jpg No critique of th...
Re: "9438"
Pic #4 down. Is that SAS in the stem??? That would indeed be. I thought it was a nice partly cloudy day here in the Puget Sound so I went into the yard to take some pictures of this pipe. Turned out it was the deadly Cirrus-Sasquatch cloud that had came in from the north! Soon as I let my guard dow...

Re: Bought a Jet 1014
Congrats, Jet makes a nice mini-lathe. I got the same one sitting here and it worked well for a spell, at some point the pull of the Jet 9X20 took me over (the cross slide and all that). Now though you are gonna need the chuck, the adaptor to make the chuck fit on the lathe, and proper jaws to hold ...

Re: "9438"
That's a great pipe Bill. It's gnarly, but very clean. Thanks much Andrew, I appreciate it. Your craftsmanship has not plateaued. I'm most definitely still on the ramp up the learning curve but more than anything I am still in the "tooling up" process. Things like sand blasters are way ou...
"9438"
As I go to post this it occurs to me that there are very few shapes you can specify simply with a number yet have everyone know what you mean. Even using something as simple and well known as the name "billiard" or "apple" can lead to confusion. Is the billiard in question an Eng...
Re: Warthog
I really like this pipe, well done.
