Re: New pipe maker introduction!

I'm pretty sure you got it right Nate .... Chris knows what posh is.. and its not a Spice Girl... Wanker is above his command of the American language.... I mean he puts groceries in his boot, can't say aluminum correctly and consistently confuses biscuits with cookies Oh yea... Welcome aboard James

Re: question about horn

As mentioned.. From your local butcher is one major source.. Alternatively pet stores for dog toys when on sale... You can pick up buffalo horn tips for 5 to 8 euro and normally it can be used on 2 or 3 pipes

Also dictum.de, along with knife making supply stores

Re: Gourd Calabash

Scottie, personally I love the idea... But think it would look better if the briar was sandblasted or fissure free ... Just my personal observation

Your ingenuity amazes me... And that's what makes a difference in my world of pipe making ;-)

Re: Which saw do you use for bit?

Buy whatever thickness you want... The teeth are what's important... I always thin mine out to the desired width with a grinder... Only takes a few swipes and the thicker blades cost me less where I'm at

Re: small bamboo

No.... I epoxy a piece about .5 to .75 to connect the stummel to the bamboo.. And I always use a spacer but you don't have to .... And for the mp I use another piece about the same length .. About a third is pushed into the stem and the rest is viewable as the tenon... I leave the rest of the bamboo...

Re: small bamboo

I use a SS tenon to attach the bamboo to stummel.... And a SS tenon in the mouthpiece.. When the bamboo is thin in diameter use 3.5 or 3 mm SS and drill at the same diameter... They don't all have to be 4mm

The rest of the shank is just clean bamboo on the inside
