Re: Which Nova?
I use the Supernova chuck, with the 75mm long nose jaws, unfortunately the jaws don't open up far enough to clamp anything thicker than a 53mm wide block. Other than that, the chuck is ace, I wonder what chuck jaws u guys use

Re: Forstner Bit produces Tapered Face
Was surfing woodcraft website and I came across some 'woodriver' forstners, plenty cheap and on the item description says that it produces flat faces. I believe this is the same bits that I can get from my local supplier. White quality isn't that great, it does it's job, only sad thing is the smalle...

Re: Which is a better buy?
From what i looked on grizzly.com..
seems as if both machines are central machinery, they look VERY similar.
Reading the reviews on there.. seems liek the second machine has got soem good reviews. I guess I shall sit on this a while more. But opinions from you guys is great!
cheers,
Adry

Which is a better buy?
Hi, I'm looking at 2 different lathes. I'm not sure which factory in china makes them. Its not going to be used for turning a stummer, I think i might stick to using my Jet 1014 for that. I was just thinking of making some other stuff with it. Heck i could even turn stems with them. This on is a 7x1...

Re: Jaws for a Teknatool Supernova chuck?
I think the jaws will not be strong enough - I think they'll bend/flex because they have no support in the direction that they are being torqued. As you squeeze a briar block in there you'll just bend the bolts that the extended "jaw" part is bolted on with. good point... will do some red...

Sorry sas, don't really get what you meanSasquatch wrote:I ... suspect... that you want a bit stronger of a joint between the plates and the jaw themselves. I would add a bit of material on the outside so you could weld a triangle of metal in there for support....

Jaws for a Teknatool Supernova chuck?
Hi guys, I just spent a few hours on Autocad trying to design some jaws for my Teknatool Supernova chuck. Right now, with the jaws that i purchased for the chucks, I'm pretty much limited to chucking up briar blocks with the maximum of 52-53 mm width. I'm thinking of getting a machinist to make a ne...

Re: Anone have the J.T. Cooke pipe making DVD?
Man I'm interested in this also..
Anyone have anymore? I'd pay for shipping. Alternatively, like someone said here.. would it be ok if someone ripped the DVD and posted it on rapidshare or something?
Cheers,
Adry

Bamboo supplies
Hi Guys, I was thining of getting some bamboo lately, and seeing that I'm in asia, it would seem liek a wiser choice to buy bamboo from somewhere within this region (as I understand that most bamboo comes from here anyways). Looking at the prices on PME and others, I noticed that sellers on Ebay sol...

Re: SuperNova2
Did you eventually find out what the grub screw?
Its basically the screw to tighten the chuck on to the insert. Please do let me know if you have figured this out, otherwise, i'd take a picture for you again..
Cheers, Adry

Re: SuperNova2
Why hello mate, seems we're using the same chuck. I've new to pipe making and purchased the same chuck and jaw set combination as you (at least if i recall correctly). What I do is i only use 2 out of the 4 jaws. Even though we're only using 2 jaws, thankfully the long nose jaws are serrated, at lea...

Re: Jet JWBS-9 Bandsaw
thats great!.. because for the price of 1 jet blade here.. i could get at least 4 blades from the cheaper alternative.
I might even get a 10mm just so that i can cut straighter.. Man i dream of having a 14" saw.. but my workspace doesn't allow so..

Re: Jet JWBS-9 Bandsaw
Hi guys, This morning while sawing a block, the blade gave way at the weld. Now, I guess i'm back to handsawing my work :). Getting a new blade from Jet Malaysia would cost me around 100usd and based on my research online the bandsaw blade for this particular saw is 1510mm. I managed to find a repla...
