Re: Bent Brandy(?)
It is indeed a fine looking pipe. I'm far from being able to critique, but with that being said, the only slight glitch that catches my eye is a slight disturbance in the stem/shank junction, and the bottom of the stem seems to take a different angle from the shank. That's just what I see when LOOKI...

Welcome! :) Use the search function for the forum here, you'll learn a lot that way. Most use Fiebings alcohol based leather dye for stain then red or brown tripoli, white diamond then carnuba. Search in finishing techniques with the keyword you wanna know about, lots of info on here for you already...

Re: Using a Hole Saw?
I just use an extra pass with a forstner bit the same size (or close to it anyway) that I'm shooting for on the outside diameter of the chamber. If you're using a drill press it's super easy to do. And a lot less difficult to get the round shapes needed for certain pipes, patience and needle files w...

Nicely done Abi! The way the grain of the briar and olivewood looks so integral is exquisite. Definitely staying true to your own style Kudos

Bravo Mr. Wallenstein, it's like Jimi Hendrix reincarnate! Could serve as a pipe or weapon, very versatile!
Re: Zulu
Love the Zulu! Very rhythmic style pipe, as you've demonstrated here. Kudos.
Congrats on the handcut stem as well! from what I hear, that's a HUGE step in the right direction

Re: Brüder (bei der Pfeifeherstellung)
Very nice Nate! I'm normally not a big fan of virgin finishes, but it works well on this pipe  I like the thin bit part as well, looks like added comfort. Isn't it odd how the flaws in briar always seem to hide right where you really don't want them? Anyone should be happy with this ...

Re: A Stand Up Guy
I'll third that motion. I called expecting to make a quick order and ended up spending better than a half hour discussing the pipe designs I was shooting for, what tools to use, what not to use. Extremely helpful and awesome guy  This is a rare business, as I've yet to deal with anyone who...

Re: 2010-2011 Pipe In The Hat trade
Sadly, I must withdraw My briar proved to be unworthy in the final stages. But I do intend to use this design on a later pipe. *sigh*
Nice pipe bandkbrooks! I like the symetry as well as the overall design kudos!

Re: Swooped shank Brandy? First pipe completed
My bad, for some reason I was thinking they were different  In that case, all I can say is that whatever Tim uses at JH Lowe, isn't too bad to bend with the alcohol lamp. The heating is tricky because it goes straight from warm to OMG it's gonna melt! but once it gets malleable, you've g...

Thanks for the kinds words!
I have no advice to give on bending acrylic, all I've dealt with thus far is Lucite, sorry
But if I had to guess, the boiling water trick may work? Dunno, never tried it.
Thanks again!

Re: Smooth Billiard and Blasted Rhodesian
The rhodesian I like very much. Maybe just a wee bit too much bend in the stem for my personal tastes, but that's irrelevant really. The finish on the billiard is awesome! I'm curious as to what color(s) stain that is? Really makes it pop either way. I see just a little dip in the back of the bowl f...

Re: Swooped shank Brandy? First pipe completed
Many thanks! :) I have to agree, in hindsight I should've bent it from the beginning. Got a bit anxious to finish, as well as nervous about screwing up the last stem I had at the time. Thanks again! :) Oh, and P.S.- just to be a bit more honest, that ring? Yeah, came out of a bubble gum machine many...

Re: billiard, i hope
Nice job Mathias! :) I like the proportions, that's usually the biggest pain to get right. The stem color does suit the pipe. Only a matter of my peasant ranked opinion, maybe if the stem were just a wee bit longer? Hard to say though, with so many variations around I think the stem length would be ...

Re: Swooped shank Brandy? First pipe completed
Thanks Abi! The kind words are much appreciated :) I feel the same about the pics, I tried using my fiancee's camera but my memory card is shot so a no go there. Face to face, it's a bit lighter. Not to mention the scratches that reared their ugly head after polishing; 2 on the left of the shank and...
