Re: Sasquatch makes a pipe

i like it. the size looks like it would be fairly lightweight and that would be good for everyday smoking. kind of a nice balance between straight forward and interesting to look at :D

Re: Am I, or the 'baccy' to blame here?

if your going to smoke, pipes or cigars, all the way. i bet ryo's taste better but cigs, to me, taste pretty bland. :( i want to taste finely made tobacco products, not paper and hot air. i bet if we just tell our cig smoking friends out there about pipes and let them try one out, we'll ha...

Re: pipe 2, the "ear pipe"

lol good call. i'll try harder to make better pipes  edit: thank you all for taking the time to apply your thoughts on my ear pipe. despite the burning hole in my ego, there is good stuff here that i will take to heart. honest. also, today i had a tragedy. the pipe that i was working on was in...

Re: pipe 2, the "ear pipe"

let me clarify. i have never worked with wood before, yet i have created 2 good smoking pipes from scraps using crude tools at best. that is the talent i am referring to. i have no illusion, self imposed or otherwise, that i am anything other than a new guy trying to cave nice pipes. i forget that t...

Re: pipe 2, the "ear pipe"

im aware of where i am :D the bottom. being able to carve up a well smoking pipe from trash wood, first try, as well as second, is a talent. im not making heirloom stuff, but, i know that if i keep at it, i'll be making really nice pipes, worth keeping around. just finished roughing ...

Re: pipe 2, the "ear pipe"

your quite the heckler there. please understand however, that pipe making is not merely mastering a classical shape, which im working at now, but also a tradition of making objects of both art and utility. this pipe fulfills all the the criteria of a successful pipe, with the possible exception of b...

Re: Brass stems

brass tastes awful. go lick some brass. then you will want to make it out of something else, lol :D pretty metal though. i was a brass taster for a few years in the 60s... :?:  edit: if you use a wooden mouth piece, like the ones pictured, it would taste less bad, but i have a feeling that hea...

billiard one is pure elegance. 10 points. its just right, to my eye, and i would pick that one up in a flash if i saw it up for grabs. i have a billard from the czek republic ( im SURE i spelled that wrong) that i love, but that one has the upper hand in a billiard fight, at least when it comes to p...
