Re: VaVa No. 20
Wow...nice man. My only critique is that you should really have done something about that one side not having that sweet bird's eye like the other, Really nice looking pipe.

Re: Pipemaking injuries
I'm really new to pipe making...only on my 4th pipe. However, in this limited amount of time I've already ended up with 6 stitches in my left hand. I can tell you...do NOT use a chisel for trying to shape Briar. One, it doesn't work, and two, well...you know this part already.

Re: Don Paul pipe
I know that "Don" is a Bari second. This may be what you have and instead of stamping it "Don Oom Paul" it could be they just shortcut it and combined them. I own a Don Rhodesian and really like it. It's been a great smoker so far.

Anyone have some cheap Ebauchons?
I'm heading overseas in a couple months and was wanting to take some briar with me. I'm super new to pipe making (only about 3 under my belt) so was just looking for some cheap Ebauchons. If anybody has a small lot to sell I'd be much obliged if you let me know. Thanks guys.

3rd is certainly my favorite. Though, I really like the last one as well. Man, that blast is just insane...nice.

Re: Blasted Tomato (my first blast)
When you can't really tell if it's a shank extension or stem inlay, then I'd say you did a pretty job getting everything flush, well done. Sucks about the fissure on the left side. In that last pic it looks huge, though almost like it may be played up by a glare...not too sure. Personally, I would l...

I just came across this particular thread. The first nosewarmer with the "yellow'ish" inlays is really to my liking. Very well done.
Re: #morta
Wow! That's super nice. I'm not too big of a fan of morta. The grain pattern just reminds me too much of walnut (which I also don't care too much for,) but this pipe is really great. Looks like you did an excellent job on the slot.

Re: Stem On Pipe Too Tight
Before you smoke it you can try taking a plain ole #2 pencil and rubbing the tennon with the pencil lead. It will help it go into the mortise a lot easier. However, not too sure how much of it will stay during a smoke until you want to take it out. Worth a shot, though.

Re: "Tug" and "Lifeform" pipes by Mike Messer
I'm not one to critique anyone's pipes and would be super pumped to produced either of these, so take my words with a grain of salt...probably better off not taking them at all, The first pipe looks extremely well executed. However, the only thing I would change is to put just a tad bit more ...

Re: olive zulu/dublin
That's a really pretty piece of wood. The bowl size looks just right to me. The only critique I would have is that it looks a bit like the sides of the bowl may be a little flat...sort of paneled. But this may just be an illusion on the picture. Either way, this is a really pretty pipe. Nice job.

I really like nose warmers and this one is esp. nice. Looks like a you managed to get a pretty thin bit. What's the overall length?
