Thanks. That, at least, tells me that it is a job which is beyond my experience.

Help with Silver Cap??
I have a customer that wants a silver cap on the bowl of a Morta pipe.
I have no experience with this and was hoping someone might give me a tutorial.
Any takers?

Re: 2014 Pipe In The Hat Trade.
And now for some bad news.....I dropped my pipe last night and broke the stem and won't be able to sandblast it today because it's going to rain. So now someone gets to tell me if I can still play or not  I will get it all finished before the end of the week. I will post the updated list a li...

Re: Learn Here! (I hope)
In my humble opinion. The bowl is too big for the shank both in diameter and height, thus making the pipe look unbalanced. For a standard Billiard I would try to make the shank diameter about 1/3 of the bowl height. (This is not a hard and fast rule, but is a good place to start). I think you can ge...

Re: 2014 Pipe In The Hat Trade.
ok who got us all sick at Premals pipe makers meet up? It's really hard to say. On Saturday morning most of you looked pretty sick. Todd More like lack of sleep and hung over. We were at the shop until 4:00 am Friday night. So, how does that explain why none of you looked any better on Sunda...

Re: Tyler is Awsome!
Not so fast, Todd. I'm pretty sure that only Rad can declare pipemakers to be awesome. Tools, cars, movies, etc, sure... we can do those, but pipemakers? Not so much. That requires vast experience, the ability to think like a brown trout, and ancient wisdom. (extra-heavy emphasis on the word "...

And he's a pretty good teacher too. After Tyler put on a demonstration on how to drill after shaping at the Midwest Meetup I was inspired to give it a try. And thanks to Tyler's expert instruction I managed to drill my stummel perfectly on the first try! http://media500.dropshots.com/photos/793936/2...

Re: delrin issues
Derlin is not rocket science.
I have gotten mine from McMaster-Carr and Vermont Freehand and both work just fine.
If your Derlin is not exactly 8mm then find at drill bit that will work with the Derlin you have.

Re: What Pin Gage Set to Get?
Well crap Todd. I just got an email from Enco this morning....15% off any order and free shipping. And of course those sets are still on sale  Gotta use both codes for anyone else that wants to use them. TUE15 and TUEUPS (good until tomorrow at 11am) Yea, that just about how my luck goes most...

Re: What Pin Gage Set to Get?
Sorry if this is a dumb question. I've seen these mentioned several times here, what are you guys using these for? Edit: I know they're for taking measurements, but where in the pipe making process would you want to use these? Actually, we don't use them for measuring. We use them as jam chucks to ...

A Big Thanks to Premal
I just got back from the Mid-West Meet Up. Thank you Premal for being a fantastic host and an all around great guy. Between Tyler, Premal, Bill and all of the other great pipe makers there I learned more about pipe making in one day than I would in a year of working on my own. I feel like I just had...
