Me too. I am finding that as I get older I want more and more light.

I am considering one of those magnifying glass light combos for finish work.

Re: Help me build a new shop.

It would be a lot easier to see the shop without all of your ugly mugs in the way!

I'm sorry I missed it.

Re: Help me build a new shop.

These are fantastic ideas. I am thinking that I want to stand for stem shaping with files (better leverage) and some hand sanding using a vice. But sitting for fine sanding and finishing sounds like a good idea. What is a good material to use foe sound proofing? Keep the ideas coming. This is great....

Re: Help me build a new shop.

At 72 my sitter is wrecked. My stuff is set up to stand or occasionally perch on a high stool. I also have a buckling asphalt floor in a car port so that rolling anywhere is generally a non starter. I do have some ideas on placing tools that might give you some ideas for your work areas, I can send...

I hadn't even considered that.

May be worth some thought.

Thanks Sas.

As usual, your comments are somewhat underwhelming.

Help me build a new shop.

I will soon be moving into a new home with a perfect place to build a new workshop.

I am looking for good layout ideas.

Please send me pictures of your shop and let me know what you like about them and what you would change if you could.

Thanks,

Todd

Thanks for posting that link.

It's nice to see the face behind the user name and get a sense of who you are.

Re: Pipemaking mini "documentary"

Yeah, sorry about that  Hope it doesn't give you nightmares.. No worries, I'm giving myself nightmares! I posted a little clip on Youtube myself a while back, as a dare from a friend. Nothing as spectacular or polished as yours, though. But it still gives me a shiver down my spine, every time ...

Bending Really Thick Stems

I'm working on a pipe with a very thick stem and when I went to bend the stem the epoxy holding the Derlin tenon got too hot and the tenon came loose.

Does anyone have a trick for avoiding this situation?

Thanks,

Todd

Re: I messed up

Acetone will cut CA glue, but you will have to be patient and apply it multiple times. If that doesn't work you could try a heat gun. I think that heat will soften CA glue, but I'm not 100% sure. I am sure that heat will soften the stem. If you're lucky you may only ruin the stem. Good Luck, Todd

Those are pretty cool, but what's really cool is knowing that you are still alive and seem to be doing OK.

Glad to hear from you!
