Re: Maple Burl (fixed) - lessons I learned today

I know what its like to make that mistake. (I am so stupid I have done it more than once.) If you want to go with the glass is half full perspective at least you will always know how much tobacco is left in the bottom of the bowl!

Re: The 12th pipe I made, Rusticated Half Bent Brandy.

I agree with wayne, the pipe is very well shaped and finished. Much better than my 12th. One thing I did notice is the transition to the stem. The entire pipe has a very smooth flowing shape and then in the transition to the stem there is a 1/4" area where the shape goes crazy from briar to box...

I want to be the first to say that on the whole, it feels much better without the rubber!!! Sorry fellas. On a serious note, the finishing and attention to detail are great on this pipe.

Re: Sas Needs to Go to Chicago Next Year!

I am thinking about attending the show next year if finances allow. If I do I can bring a pouch of 5 brothers and a bottle of Clan McGregor. Once you smoke a bowl of the brothers, you won't care about the cheap scotch!

Re: anyone interested in Algerian briar?FULL PRICELIST ALL SIZES

Package arrived today. These blocks look great! already square, no decades of grime on the outside and much bigger than I had expected. Even the small sized blocks are more than big enough to make an average pipe. Thank you very much steve!

Re: newest pipes.

Sorry, .130 behind the button. Not .30 that will make a difference. You are right, it's all about dialing the button size in. I am now making the in the normal human size range.

Re: newest pipes.

I realized when I received Andrew's pipe in the PITH that my buttons are obnoxiously huge and unnecessary. i have been trying to tame them on the last 2 or 3 pipes. the pipe with the palm extension measures .30" behind the button and .210 across the top of the button for height. some of those p...

Re: Most recent work

A great group of pipes Abe! Do you have a website set up yet? If not, I think its time to do so. I agree with your thoughts on the dublin. To me it seems like the stem, shank, and bowl are nicely shaped and finished, but they don't work together as a pipe if that makes sense. If you look at the stem...

newest pipes.

Hey guys, I just wanted to post the latest completed pipes. I've been busy so I thought i would just post them all at once just to show what I have been up to. I am in the process of trying to liquidate these to secure more supplies, as I have been destroying briar and rod stock in equal amounts. As...

Re: pipe in the hat trade?

Thanks Tim. I spent quite a long time trying to make the junction fit better, but it ended up just shifting the gap to a different area. It was my first integral tenon and I hadn't quite figured out how to square the shoulder on a wood lathe. I resanded the stem to try to remove the scratches, but w...

I was thinking the same thing. I pmEd my recepiant and haven't recieved a response. Maybe we should give them a week to respond, and if they don't respond eliminate them from the list.

Re: anyone interested in Algerian briar?

I was just curious. It has been about A year since they had stock in all styles of blocks. That really sucks for PME. Losing the money for a personal order of 30 or 40 blocks is bad, but I am sure PME had an order for several hundred blocks.

Re: anyone interested in Algerian briar?

I would be interested in maybe 20 blocks. I have been periodicly Checking pme's site for a while, are they not supplying blocks anymore? The briar I have been using lately seems to have pits in 2 out of 3 blocks that result in me keeping the pipe. I now have about 12 personal smokers i have made. I ...
