Re: Making Pipes From Fraised Stummels

Thank you very much for sharing. A very nice looking pipe.

Even with the fraised stummel it was not a cake walk. Skill and experience seem key.

Re: Collaboration 2XL Saddle Billiard

Fantastic looking pipe!

I have two strawberry wood pipes and they smoke fantastic. Yes, there is a little sweetness for the first several bowls. The wood seems a little lighter than briar.

Re: Nording: Finish or not to finish?

I have a Nording unfinished freehand and it will darken nicely on its own. I have been smoking mine for about 10 years. Good pipe. But yeah, stain it if you want. The grain pattern probably isn't high grade though.

Re: FAVORABLE pipe & tobacco story in the New York Times (!)

I liked this; "What makes the pipe distinct from other forms of smoking is that it refines the experience to its most distilled form. Unlike that of cigars, the tobacco in a pipe never touches the smoker’s tongue, so the taste is purely of smoke. Unlike that of cigarettes, the tobacco in a pipe...
