Re: Second Effort, Horn

Sawdust, while I am new to making pipes I sold them for over a decade so you made a fantastic pipe, it would be welcome in my collection any day. I especially like the grain so keep up the great work. Plus the curve is pretty spot on for a horn in my opinion.

Re: My new $5 pipe

May have cost you $5 in materials, but it is worth a lot more in my opinion. Fine work

Re: 1st & 2nd Pipes (Tinsky Kits)

Thank guys for the comments. I do appreciate the insights since I am at the very beginnng of learning to make pipes. I completely agree freehand pipes are a very open style. My first pipe I definitely bit off more than I could chew especially since I really didn't have the right tools. My second pip...

Re: Erik Nording Making Pipes

Almost looks like a woodburner. It is a wood burner. Erik used it to sign and date pipes for customers. His shaping & finishing wheel was designed and constructed by Erik. In his life before pipe making, Erik was an electric engineer. When he started making pipes, he didn't like the shaping too...

Erik Nording Making Pipes

Below are pictures I took in the fall 2003 when Erik Nording visited the cigar & pipe shop I was working at. He brought some of his pipe shaping equipment with him from Denmark and shaped & finished pipes in the store. Overall it was a pretty cool experience, since Erik is quite the characte...

Re: Looking for churchwarden

I will second the purchase of a Savinelli. I bought my basic churchwarden probably 4 years ago from cupojoes.com. It is not the prettiest pipe but it gets the job done. Here is a link to link to their selections. http://www.cupojoes.com/cgi-bin/dept?dpt=H&srch=KW&search_text=Savinelli+Church...

1st & 2nd Pipes (Tinsky Kits)

My first pipe is a prototype for a future pipe. I made the pipe in the January of 2010. The pipe is fairly a crude pickaxe especially since it was cut with a hand saw and shaped with a small rotary sander attached to battery powered hand drill. The finish is a contrast stain using Mixol Black & ...

First Post & Introduction

Hello everyone I wanted to introduce myself. In recent months, I have taken the new hobby of pipe making and I have used information posted on the forum in my initial steps into carving & finishing pipes. I prefer not to be troll so I decided join the forum and contribute in the future in any wa...
