Re: First pipe from a block

Charl, you are exactly right, I shouldn't try to speak in foreign measurements like "millimeter". Two of those things is way too short. More like a quarter inch or 57 rch's.

Re: First pipe from a block

Excellent work Dimitry. There is a little too much forward cant, bring it back about halfway between where it is, and being perfectly vertical. Another 2 millimeters of olive on the shank would be perfect. You want the wood of the shank to be about equal to the amount of bamboo before the first knuc...

I can calculate your age for you too if you'd like. Just send me your date of birth and bank account # (for verification, sometimes they ask).

Re: Sandblasting help

George my air compressor motor gave out on me a couple years ago right before Chicago. I loaded up my cabinet and drove out to a family friends boat repair shop and borrowed an air hose. No clue on cfms but their setup is a 25hp motor and about a 500 gallon tank. You could watch the pressure gauge d...

www.Drillsandcutters.com

Found a new website that had the best price on a couple things I needed. They have tons of drill bits, reamers in all sizes and tool blanks for metal lathe, sandpaper rolls, lots of odds and ends. Shipping is free over $100 and the stuff I bought was priced from decent to unbeatable. www.drillsandcu...

Glad you're back. That kind of thing hits you hard and can take years to get over. 2013 I lost my best friend, then my Father, then my Sister, had me out of step for a long time.

Yeah, I apologize if my answer had a little too much asshole to it, I was in a foul mood yesterday for unrelated reasons. You are really helpful with new people, and as Sas says I know you personally to be a good guy. BUT, you give all of your information as fact when you are still very much a stude...

Re: PITH 2016!!!!!!

Do you have a good source for those particular types of metal shank caps? Buy up a bunch of old military mount Dunhills and sand all the stamps off the caps. Then turn a tenon on the end of your pipe to fit the new silver work, voila. Now, don't go telling everyone these kind of pipe mak...

Re: Briar storage - Temperature

There probably isn't a hell of a lot you can do about it one way or another, too moist or too dry, when shipping a pipe across the world. Yeah, I've tried to guess and compensate for what I think the weather will be like in another region, and it never seems to work out. Try to make it a little tig...
