Re: Need advice repairing a stem

I'm still years away of being able to do something that loosely resembles a stem, I'm still playing with LEGO(TM) bricks ;-))) Yesterday I ordered the stains from PIMO, I will try to mix some black powder with epoxy, it don't have to be Frankenstein level, an Igor level repair will do. :-) Thanks g...

Re: Lathe brand - please help with info

I would hazard a guess that the 250 is the swing over bed in mm, which is just under 10". Swing over cross-slide is probably 140mm, which is 5 1/2". Take your friend with 50 years experience with you and check out the machine at the dealer's. Your friend will probably know what questions ...

Re: Lathe brand - please help with info

Haven't heard of the name, but the lathes look like typical Chinese machines. Anybody can have machines made in China and put their name on them, that's neither good nor bad. As such, I would expect that they have some standard spindle mount for chucks and that you'll be able to get additional face...

Hey Frank thank you for the response! Don't worry too much about the staining - that will improve with practice. I'm guessing that the "ding" in the rim is a briar fault, so we'll overlook that. I am sure about the stain. Actually this method is well known for me as i am staining almost al...

Hi i have "sensitive" approach. I am always using 4.2 mm drill bit for final drilling of smoke channel. The chamber is another story. I am using about 19 mm diameter spoon bit and for the deepness, well, I am using my smallest finger second ring. I put in the chamber and if it is up to the...
