slot 2 mm
[quote="magruder"]Most guys I know love a narrow slot  Thin bits are very comfortable to me and I think many poeple agree. What are your thoughts on the thin bits? Hallo Steve! I like thin bits too, but for my taste 2 mm is narrow enough for a thin bite, smaller slots I do not like. ...

slot < 2 mm
Hello!
It seems to me that some of you are interested in drilling a slot as narrow as possible (1,5 mm). What is the benefit of such a small slot?
Here in Europe you rarely get pipe cleaners which fit such a narrow slot.

name "Komet"
Hallo Kurt!KurtHuhn wrote:I like! I've made a variation on that shape myself. I didn't have quite so cool a name though.
The shape reminds me of the star of bethlehem
The shank is the tail of the comet.

Hallo Jeff! You wrote: "Thus, if one drills the draught hole in the shank at 4mm, you must also keep the same diameter or capacity for air flow through to the button." I did some calculation. And in theory it really works with the dimensions you described (You wrote: "Like I said abov...

Hallo! I think we do not ecactely know what we are discussing, so I set up a drawing. I want to discuss only section A. Relationship between airhole diameter in section A and bite thickness in section a. Maenz has very thin bites, about 3 to 3,2 Millimeters, so the drilliing can't be more than 1.8 o...

Hallo! My name is David Wagner. I am a pipemaker from Autria (www.baff.cc). I do a lot of testing to find out a good combination of airhole, tobacco chamber and bite to provide good smoking conditions. Many pipemakers drill their pipes (without filter) in the shank about 3,7 mm and within the mouthp...
