My wife, Kathy, is an amateur painter. She had a link to this on Facebook today. I thought it was great, and very relevant to this topic as well as many other struggles we have as we pursue pipe making. Check it out:

Re: 2013 Kansas City Show
I'll be there, and really looking forward to it! Hope to arrive sometime Friday afternoon. Adam Davidson and I are sharing a table. While very well run and always fun, this is a fairly small and very low key show. We're bound to run into each other pretty quickly in either the tent/deck area, or in ...

Not to thread jack this, but very glad to hear you're OK, Tyler! Our thoughts and prayers are with all those that have lost loved ones, homes, and businesses.. So terrible! George, what time is this session? Sounds great! Hope it will be after the show hours so those with tables can attend it withou...

Re: Looking for suggestions
I'd be interested in seeing how you deal with the stem shank fitting too. Especially in the context of making a new stem for an existing pipe. I'm pretty happy with how this joint and fit works out when making pipes from scratch, but when I have to make a new stem for an existing pipe, that can be a...

Re: Shaping & shining the crease behind the button (VIDEO)
Fantastic, George! I have been playing around with this since we talked in St. Louis, but this video further clarifies the procedure you use, and will help me with some issues I was having, as well as speed up the process. Thanks very much for taking the time to do this. It's going to raise the bar ...

Re: Repair workshop photos (it'll look funny to most of you)
Beautiful set up, George! Wish I had your hardwood floors in my shop... I've thought about trying to retrofit my garage conversion workshop with a wood floor, but it would be crazy... Too bad you couldn't keep the fireplace. I'd love to have a wood burning stove in my shop. I ruin a lot of briar, an...

Re: Ordered my "dream lathe" EDIT: photos added
The shop is looking great! I think you're going to love this lathe, Tyler! I'm super happy with mine! Sorry to hear about the damage, but I'm sure Matt will put it to right in short order. I did not realize these had a German pedigree, but that makes sense... It's certainly much nicer than any other...

Re: Semois Pipe Tobacco: US Group Buy
Perhaps things have changed, but at one point you could not use PayPal for tobacco purchases. I know several dealers had issues with this. Our deal hear is different than a purchase, but it certainly might create a problem with your account unless something has changed with PayPal's policies on toba...

Re: FAVORABLE pipe & tobacco story in the New York Times (!)
Thanks, all! It's been an amazing and humbling experience to be a father, that's for sure! I play a little bass and was in the right place at the right time a couple times. That's about the extent of my musicianship. As a piano technician in my day job I also get to work with a lot of amazing musici...

Is there still time to get in on this? If so, I'd love to get 400 grams... Sounds fascinating! Got you down for 500 grams, Scott. My understanding at this point is that packages come in 100g and 250g. I'll PM you final pricing once I've got it. Please let me know if this adjustment works for you. S...

Re: Sandblast "feathering"
I remember seeing somewhere that Bo used to carefully rusticate the masked areas after the blast, imitating the blast character as he did so. So on his pipes you will see a very little transition from the blasted area right up to the stem. I think I remember reading that Stanwell was doing Bo's blas...

Re: Royal Yacht
Hello Kevin, No reply for a bit so I'll jump in. I used to smoke Royal Yacht some back in the late 70's early 80's. Little doubt there is some kind of flavor or topping added, but it's not really considered an aromatic. I'm guessing there is a good bit of difference to the blend over the years as it...
