Wayne,
It looks very good. I like the partial rustication, very tastefully done. One thing: it appears that the stem is a little too thick near the stem. I'm sure it doesn't look that way in person.

Re: dublin
Very fine carving Andrew! I like it a lot, hopefully the next carved pipe will have fewer flaws. Keep up with the art, it sets you apart.

Very nicely done! I love your driftwood finish on this one.
Re: bulldog
Andrew, Pretty fine work! a couple of issues I see: -the shank is a bit wavy, symmetric waviness, but, it really should have a straight/smooth line on both sides -I'm a little surprised to see that same shank with a taper, shouldn't it be straight? The finish is very good. It looks as if you used a ...

They look great, Bill! Hope to see them in person one day... Thanks much Mike. I'm sure I would benefit tremendously having an artisan like yourself look some of my pipes over in person and I will look forward to that. I will try to make something a little nicer before then though so it is not too ...

Eremarkable is a douchette. I'm not sure if the diminutive is a good thing or not. To answer Mike's original question: The only *real* briar is the briar that I use. I have a supplier who gets me thrice -dead root (shot, hanged, and gassed), which he sources from Egyptian tombs so you can imagine h...

Wayne,
couple of things:
-like the paddle, don't know why, just do, it's way cool
-don't like the bend in the stem, it's not smooth, breaks up the flow for me
Like the rest of the pipe, very very Dane-tastic

I agree, focus on the shaping, forget the black spots, then minimize the problem with dark stain.

Hey Larry,
Very nice effort! One thing that I believe should've been mentioned is that the staining appears uneven. Or, is it the briar? The rim of the bowl looks especially splotchy. If you could get that right, that pipe's finish would really pop, given the nice birdseye.
