Re: Briar showed up...and 5 hours later...

Sounds like an Uncle of mine..."Look at you stupid...go hold your head!!!"

In that case, I will have to troll and find someone newer than me to abuse for self worth enhancement... :takethat:

Briar showed up...and 5 hours later...

Let me say this, in this most unperson-able format that constitutes a "message", which in no way imparts humor or sincerity the way we would rather it be presented. I hate that I can never tell who is being serious, funny, or helpful!! Wayne, thank you for your help and your advice ...

Re: A+M Stamps

Youre a poet and dont know it... I understand marketing, and I believe a re saying that it should be as much a part of business planning as the business plan itself, its integral. I couldnt tell you where my pipes came from except the ones I have made and yours... Thats why I said if I can aff...

Re: A+M Stamps

HOWEVER, That said...thanks for the insult buddy!!!! JK!!! I don't think you took my comment as an insult, and I believe you meant the above in good humor (based on the JK), but just to be safe: No insult was meant at all to you, or your pipes, I was just relating my very recent experience. (no nee...

Re: A+M Stamps

My stamp, which is my avatar, was $50 plus $7 shipping for $57 total. Newcarver, If I may be so bold as to add more: this may or may not apply to you personally but it did for me.... lemme quote the Sas from a different thread on stamps: I think keeping it simple is the right way to go. There's not...

Re: Briar showed up...and 5 hours later...

A 7/8" chamber is too big for such a narrow block. It would have worked out better if you drilled 3/4" then you would have had enough briar to turn it round. Also, the Dublin shape works best with a conical bowl so you'd need a cooresponding chamber bit. That block looks like it was plent...

Did overseas ship play into that amount a whole lot, or was that just stamp money?

Re: Briar showed up...and 5 hours later...

I think it's a great pipe. Only concern I have is, how deep is that crack in photos 20006 and 20007. I know that's the wood, not your fault, but I'd be slightly afraid to smoke it if I thought it had a crack through the bowl wall. I appreciate it! The crack doesnt show on the inside of the bowl, if...

Re: Briar showed up...and 5 hours later...

I use a lathe to turn it to round, then use a chucked up sanding disk with around 120 grit to rough shape, then I mount on a dowel in a bench clamp and hand sand using 1/2" to 1" strips at 150,240,320,400,600. On this one I decided to go a bit further after 600 using the micro mesh series ...

Re: Free Pipe!

Just wanted to drop a line in about how it smokes! I pretty much smoked it all day the day after I got it. I ran through some Peterson Sunset Breeze with it. It smokes really nice! Smooth and free flowing with no whistles or gurgles, it smokes dry (which is a feat seeing how I slobber so much), and ...

Re: Briar showed up...and 5 hours later...

Thanks Todd for the help and encouragement! What areas did you feel needed more sanding attention? The reason I ask is this thing was shiny smooth even before I buffed it! The only thing I can see is maybe the top of the bowl with the straight dark lines, but isnt that grain? This was the shiniest b...

Briar showed up...and 5 hours later...

Yep it finally showed up! I was getting antsy! This would be my third (fourth if you count the pile of sawdust before this one  ) briar pipe so far. I like short and stubbies, so that's what I did, it is a wee thing, roughly 4.5" long, 1.75" tall, by 1.25" at its widest po...
