2007 Christmas Blend

I was looking for something different and found a tin of Samuel Gawiths 2007 Christmas Mixture. I have had it for a while, obviously, but never tried it before. With that kind of age I was affraid that any trace of aromatic flavoring would be gone. It was not! It was very fragrant. Cloves and cinnom...

Re: Smoke Curing?

I have been away for awhile but I wanted to bring you up to speed on my recent smoking experiment. I wanted to try it with cured leaf this time. I had Samsun from last years crop in the shed. I had it hanging inside during the summer and quite a few days it got around 130* inside. The final product ...

Briar Reel

I love to fly fish. I was looking around at getting a new reel and stumbled across what this guy is doing! Pretty amazing work. I spent a bit of time looking at the fellows art. Enjoy. If anyone knows him tell him I am a fan! :D Anyone who can meld 2 of my favorite things together is OK by me! http:...

If you are leaving the lamp on all the time then that might cause a problem with them germenating. They need to be kept warm and dark until they sprout. That should help them out. check on them in a day or two and if they look better then go back to using the light. The florescent light really doesn...

I was able to harvest my Mopa plants. The leaves were on the small side. They were much thicker than either the Virginia or Havana leaves from the same crop. My Mopa plants were planted behind the others along the fence and they got partial shade. I wasn't sure how tolerant of the Florida sun they w...

For the last couple years Lew Rothman of JR has asked for customers to have proof of age verification believing just this type of legislation was coming down the pike. I had to send a photocopy of my drivers license to General Tobacco to participate in an offer they had. They have to protect themsel...

I found an attachment where I can put the Tripoli wheel and polishing wheel on one side and still keep the grinding wheel on the other. I had a need for one of those anyway and way too little space. Works good so far.

I like the graining on that. The shape of the bowl is nice too. Like a cross between a Bulldog and Volcano.

I never would have thought to try that. I was always told to use only broad leaf hard woods for cooking. I thought Heath was a Bush :? Is there any flavor that is added to the foods youv'e tried? Like Hicory adds?

Mesquite is a great BBQ wood for sure. I think the only drawback to using it would be it might give off it's own flavoring up to the tobacco when lit. That might not be a bad thing though  Give it a whirl, if it doesn't work throw it on the grill with some ribs!

It was covered in a bunch of crud from sitting under a work bench for God knows how long. I put a bit of oil on the shafts to free them up before I started it. And a few spritsz of WD40 for good measure. Nothing flinging off or anything. AZ check yer local papers for these things, they are a hoot. I...

Auction Find

Took my son to a home auction and was looking to bid on some hand tools and clamps. I wound up bidding on a garage WALL of stuff for $40. This was burried under a bench. I cleaned it up and put it on a newer board and relaoced the belt, with one from the auction of course. It started right up! :D I ...

That's a keeper for sure. I can relate to the feeling you got getting the holes to line up. I only make the occasional pipe myself and use the hand drilling too. It is quite a relief when it is done right. Good job! Keep on working at it!
