Basically bought from the Old Albert-John Briars, Ltd. in Milwaukee.
Forgetting the machine because I can most likely figure that out my questions would be:
1. Do you pre drill before using a spoon bit with something more aggressive and
2. How does one sharpen spoon style bits.
Thanks!

Re: Vertical Boring Machine Setup and Drilling
No to little instruction. The last time they were used successfully was the 1960's.
I have pieced together all that I was able to document after several meetings.
Hopefully the images are coming through Doc.
Otherwise, I have also posted them HERE

Vertical Boring Machine Setup and Drilling
I am trying to get a bunch of 1920's pipe making equipment up and running. I have a lot of pieces, and everything cleaned up. I'm just curious about any recommendations as I proceed forward. I figure the best way to walk through this would be a step / process at a a time. I had mapped out the follow...

Re: Dream Buffer Setup
I have been eyeing up the Baldor Dental Lathe's.
Something with a splash cabinet would be nice. I could then add some LEDs etc.

Dream Buffer Setup
Been using my buffing setup for some years now. It works well, but I am always curious if there is something out there that would be an upgrade. If you could buy your ultimate setup and do it again, what would it be? Mine is basically a small 2 wheel 1750rpm I use for compound. 1 wide leather wheels...

Stem Supplies - Blanks in Vulcanite or Acrylic
Anyone have a lead on precast Vulcanite Stems, or Acrylic Stems?
I was used to ordering by shape and color number from The Pipe Makers Emporium, but I see they are closing / closed their doors.
Curious what's out there. I generally buy in bulk.
Thanks!

Lathe parts needed for stem work
Wondering what is recommended for doing stem work. Mainly repairs. I have a 1937 craftsman 101 12" lathe. I'm wondering what bits people recommend for turning Delin. I have some extra machine steel and a grinder, I just don't know what I need to grind. Also, for holding a stem blank, what turni...
