Why Does This Pipe Look Off?

So I am working on my first pipe in probably a year or so and I ran into some minor problems with tricks I had forgotten with getting everything perfect. So aside from the less than perfect shank/stem junction, what is wrong with the stummel? My suspicion is the inconsistency in the shape of the pip...

Almost done - sanded through the stem and need to refinish (ran out of 600, so only at 320). I am going to try to salvage this stem, but I may have to make a new one. We shall see.

Re: Well burned into the airhole for the first time

Someone has too much time on their hands if they can make a pipe in CAD just for funsies. I guess it was nice to have a nice exact drawing to refer to though.

The second one is beautiful. Well done. I agree that your personal style is starting to really show in some of these.

Re: 2012 Pipe In the Hat Trade

Sent you back a PM Jesse. If we can hold off until next Sunday (2/17), I will have one to submit. I have no tools in my apartment and full time internship doesn't allow much time to make the trek to my parent's house to work on pipes. Sorry guys! I completely understand if you want to move on withou...

You are my favorite pipe maker - hands down.

I love your creativity and the ways you incorporate unprecedented designs and tons of materials.

I'm a big fan of all your work and this is no exception. Well done.

Re: Unbalanced DGE Nosewarmer

Better. But I would do the following:

1. Don't listen to Mr. Markle or Sas.

2. Take more off the 'chin'. It is pretty chunky - try to get a smooth flowing curve.

Re: 2012 Pipe In the Hat Trade

What is the official deadline? First page says 2/3/13 and somewhere else says 2/4/13. It is gonna be tough for me to get it done (shop is at my parents house 45 minutes away from my apartment and I have a real job during the week), but I shall do my best!

I like them. The second one seems slightly off to me. I can't put my finger on it, but something is strange about the lines/proportions.

Re: Buffing station upgrade.

Could you elaborate on how you assembled your setup? What attaches the MT2 arbor and the threaded rod? Did you drill and tap the arbor?
