Hello again

Hey guys! Its me Paul from Kiziel Pipes. I'm back after over a year and a half hiatus. Long story short was I went through a nasty divorce where she went to jail and my pipe making equipment got a good going over by an angry soon to be x-wife. Needless to say my creative juices were at an all time l...

Re: Lathe

ave you tried Craigslist in your area? I did a quick search for lathes on Craigslist and came up with a ton of quality wood lathes as well as some decent metal lathes. For instance a servicable meta lathe http://louisville.craigslist.org/tls/1781003489.html . I found an old southbend I redid up here...

Re: Seen This Kind of Engraver?

As far as his pipes go they are really nice indeed. I saw how he inlays the metal logo in the stem but I wonder how he inlays the metal into the briar. If anything I got some good ideas from that video.

Re: Seen This Kind of Engraver?

If you got $200-$400 bucks to spend you can pick up a good used Pantograph engraving machine with some type set and do it yourself. Lasers are nice but a good manual machine I think is more versitile. You can cut your own templates and make any design you want. I use a old Gorton 3U Pantograph machi...

Re: Frazing Bits

I found this searching the site here but it is not a Fraising bit per say. The main problem I am seeing with making one is that you are locked in to one shape / size per bit. I will mess around a bit and see if it works or I put an eye out! lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUHPW_u5AwQ&feature=...

Frazing Bits

Does anyone know where you can get frazing bits? I am screwing around with an idea to make a frazing bit from 3/8 steel plate. Sort of like a reverse padle bit that I can chuck up in the tool post on the lathe. Any ideas?

Re: Pipe boxes

I go to my local craft supply place like an AC Moore or somthing like that. I get small wooden boxes that cost like 4 bucks each. I stain them black and affix my logo on a business card to the top. I like the look.

Re: Oooops I did it again!

I like that neither bronchitis nor kidney stones could keep you from purchasing and wrestling another 10 million pound machine. Heheheheh Yeah I am dedicated you might say! I actually have had this machine sitting in the garage waiting to make it down to the shop. I did hit one hurtle with th...

I went down the 3 stairs easy enough thanks to gravity and 4 large men but coming back up the 3 stairs????? Man! You might need 8 guys , a winch, ...

I actually like the one with the copper tubing. Make it out of brass with a slightly longer stummel and I think you got a winner! lol Unusual but I like it!

Re: My new Gorton 3U Pantograph Engraver

What do you use it for ? how will that work on a pipe? hope that's not a dumb Question :?: Instead of stamping the pipe I have a jig that holds the pipe and I engrave the name and logo into the briar to a debth of 10 thousands. I also engrave my logo into the stem itself and fill it with a red pain...
