I know we would not want to put it on a shirt but I allways joke with Keene, the man who started me in pipe carving that
"I make cancer causing products...
that smell teriffic"
"Lower your blood pressure,
Smoke a pipe"
I'll have to think on this one

Yazid
I also picked up a shipment of Algerian from Yazid this week. Nice blocks and I am always happy with the size. I ordered 30 large and 5 Jumbo blocks and after shipping will cost me less than 10 bucks a block. I also like the smoke and Yazid will not sell a block until it is ready to cut. I emailed h...

dust
hello, I us a downdraft table from Grizzly for most of my pipe work. It works very well but you have to clean the filters after every pipe. It's amazing how much dust one of these things can put out! I will also buy a air filtration to clean the air in the room as one of my second bed rooms is a wor...

Hey guys, I'll tell you what I do, good bad or indifferent! I have a Porter Cable 7hp 60 gal air compressor. I would probably opt for a larger compressor or more CFM's. Unfortunately my compressor is in Tucson and I'm in Cali so cant give you the current CFM's. More is better! My blasting cabinet is...

Hey Michael! Good to hear from you! Update...only 53 days until I retire! Anyways, I like the post. I have learned alot from watching people pick up my pipes at the shows and give them the once over. The first thing I noticed is every one will put his or her finger in the bowl and feel the finish. I...

The only other advise I could give to the ones posted here is that I use a Brad Point drill bit and these wander alot less than normal drill bits. And Like Kurt said (Hey Kurt!) use the shortest drill bit possible to prevent flexing. If I am drilling through a rough surface I will first use an end m...

Attaching extensions
Hello all, I have been making pipes with extensions lately ie. horn, box wood ect. I use Gorilla glue and on the wood it works pretty well (wood to wood) but not so well on the horn. Anyone use another type of glue or epoxy to add an extension on? I wonder if the horn just wont take the glue well. T...

Hello all, Im no nuclear designer or anything but one thing I do notice. I make a pipe here along the coast of California and the stem fits nice and tight. I will ofcourse pull the stem out when taking it home to Tucson for photo's. In Arizona I have problems fitting the stem because out there the f...

Stems
Another good source for stems is the Pipe Makers Emporium in Phoenix. They have the largest selection I have seen and if you can make it out that way the walls are covered with the display of probably 300 different stems. There number is (623) 581-2500 Hope this helps! Of course Tim is most outstand...

Hey Dave! Good to hear from you. Ofcourse I remember you, I think you were the 3rd pipe I ever sold! I actually afix the box wood extension right to the wood and after it is dried start the drilling and shaping. I do flush both peices of wood with a forstner bit first. Seems Like I've come a long wa...
