Re: Anybody seen a fill / repair like this before?
Gees! I would have rather seen a plug of wood or putty in the hole then a screw ground down. Hope the price was right considering the repair quality. I fear that after a while being that the metal will absorb and hold the heat longer that the adhesive will soften and the repair may fall out after ti...

Re: Bulldog no. 1
Hmmm...drilled like a horn, shaped like a bulldog. What to call this shape? Seriously though, I really like it. Plenty of forward motion and sharp lines flowing graciously into that stacked bowl. Kind of a Danish modern feel, and compositional very well balanced. Finish complements the shape nicely...

Re: question about air hole below mortice
Something thicker than a pencil line. Acutally because of how the airway terminates in pipes like this, I use a small airway than normal on these, 1/8" or 5/32" at biggest. Seeing a huge big oval where they holes meet is kind of ugly and I worry about tobacco jamming it up. Okay, so...

Re: question about air hole below mortice
Just to add and maybe clarify, I always try and make the draft and mortise intersect at a point where the draft always meets the base of my mortise no matter what size mortise I use 5/16" or 3/8" on bent pipes that way I don't run into problems like yours. I know I haven't made many pipes...

I've gotten a lot of things from M-C in the past years but learned you better get a good size order or they'll rape you on shipping.

Where to find a 5" to 6" long 9/64" taper bit?
On several occasions I've need a longer 9/64 taper bit and I can't seem to find one. I drill my draft and stem 9/64", maybe I should rethink this and go to a 11/64" or maybe smaller 5/32"? I don't want to go much larger but, if the general consensus is to drill ones draft larger I wil...

Re: Clear Acrylic rod stock
I haven't posted for a while and thought now would be a good time. I have two pipes with clear acrylic stems. (I didn't make them) Brand new they looked pretty cool. But after a few months of smoking, and even with good cleaning practices, they are discolored and kinda look like crap. I won't buy a...

Re: Clear Acrylic rod stock
I have made a couple of stems with clear acrylic and the airway darkens from the smoke. I think it was cast acrylic but not 100% sure, Norm. I have noticed that in earlier examples although they were machine made pipes and I suspect that the airway wasn't polished to deter build up and was rough fr...

Clear Acrylic rod stock
Anyone have any experience with Clear Acrylic rod stock? While searching the web I ran into alot of this stuff and it's priced reasonably, I think. Anyway, I've always liked how clear stems looked on certain pipes and was thinking of giving it a try. Anything I should know before proceeding other th...

Re: The Slot Makes All The Difference
In my opinion, the only reason for the slot is so the mouthpiece can be made thin & comfortable, graceful, and still have strength. A straight hole all the way through at 1/8" or greater will still provide a very good smoke. The size of the slot really does not matter as long as it is open...

Thank you Wayne, I though about doing it darker but, I really don't like dark colors and hell, it is what it is.wdteipen wrote:Pretty interesting pipe. I like it. If you stained it a darker color the pits would be a lot less noticeable since you can't sandblast it.
