Just sand the chamber when you are done, the cork will nearly always cause that bleeding.

I use 1/4 inch as a general rule. Tenon size can change that. Large tenon, thicker walls.

The corrections you get here will be well intentioned and helpful, but you need a thick skin due to the fact that it's not face to face interaction. That's mostly what is meant by "honest". When info is conveyed clearly and concisely it can sound harsh in written form.

You can tint over shellac, but there are better ways of setting the first layer. This is where research starts.

It takes practice. Past threads cover the basics. The frequency of your dyeing will just frustrate you. I apply dye twice for a contrast stain, once for base color, once for contrast. Your sanding is fine, but you can cut your dyeing application in half. Applying the colors twice will most likely bl...
