Re: my third pipe complete

I do think this board could benefit from some price level grouping for its critiques. Like, I've been fulltime for 20 years, I never look at a pipe without balancing what I see wrong with it with how many labor hours it took. A lot of the critiques I see here are basically, "Here's what you nee...

While many fans diss it, I feel Godzilla 2000 is an underrated entry in the franchise. It did a solid job of introducing the millennium Goji suit, gave us a fun and straightforward p...

Fundraiser for a Friend

HELP NEEDED! A good friend of mine is in some financial trouble. He's a young guy working hard to get out of the McJobs-and-Ramen stage of life. His parents are missionaries and out of the country, and he's on his own. He's just been hit with some unexpected financial catastrophes and is in a bad wa...

Re: Here's another one

Over the years I've learned to spot them pretty early on and politely decline, but still I get tangled with one every once in a while. I just thank them for their interest and explain that I don't think I'll be able to make the pipe that they're wanting, and call it a day. I guess I have managed to ...

Talbert Pipes has turned up in another web comic! Whoever would have expected that!

Re: Time to kill = Silliness

Are those the new Halloween pipes in the works? They talk! If only... If I had my wish, I would record something in a menacing, barely audible whisper and have the pipe play it once...and once only... two years after purchase. I'd hope for the situation where the owner is alone in his study and cou...

According to many internet pipe forum "experts", absolutely.

I figured this would find a receptive audience here. 8) I'm really tempted to make some more of these.

Re: Rod Stock Stem Creation --- a repairman's method

I've never been able to find the sharp point / steep twist kind in anything but in standard jobber length, which is too short for most stems. Do you have a source for long ones? I've never seen them longer, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone like MSC didn't have longer ones available. I haven't...

Re: Rod Stock Stem Creation --- a repairman's method

Some various rambles... I love the specialized acrylic drilling bits. They make a huge difference. Also, it helps to use food-safe cutting oil during the drilling. More than anything, though, go slow and "tap" - Drill a bit, back out, repeat. LL, your wrists are going to hate you for stem ...

I enjoyed making those visual guides, as a few pics are often...

Re: Ready for Spoon Bits?

Talking about handdrilling with spade bits: it can be done, I've done it a few times. You just have to make sure the drilling motor you use is less powerfull than you are and really grip on to your workpiece. Yoiks. I've seen it done in videos and have toyed with it, but all my motors here are 1.5h...
