Re: pipe in the hat trade?
Well, between my military obligations and a baby due this weekend, it looks like I will not be able to complete my pipe on time. :( That being said, the progress I did make on the pipe was a great learning experience for a newb like me. I never would have even attempted a bulldog this soon on my own...

Re: My newest Pipes
I personally like the second pipe the best, but that rustication is killer! Mad props
All three look to be very well constructed. Your attention to detail is easily apparent.

Erik Nording Labrador
Just want to share my thoughts a on a delicious blend I've been smoking lately. For Christmas my wife got me a tin of Erik Nording's Hunter Blend, Labrador. When I opened the tin and stuck my nose in it, I wanted to turn it upside down and dump it in my mouth, it smelled so good. It smells like some...

Re: Questions About Billiards
I know this is a very old thread, but I just want to say thank you for this information, as I am about to attempt my 1st billiard in the coming weeks. I've only made a few pipes so far, mostly freehands, but enough to realize that I need to go back and perfect the basic shapes if I really want to pr...

Re: pipe in the hat trade?
Kurt- Vanilla Bourbon Stout sounds delicious! Is that a secret recipe of your own or from a kit? My wife got me beer making equipment for my birthday this fall and I've already made a Heffeweizen and a Belgian wit. I was planning on trying a stout next. I made my own immersion chiller; it looks like...

Re: First pipe!
Thank you all for the input! @ Edward. I see what you mean about being unbalanced. I was actually too nervous to get any closer for fear of slipping with my rustication tool and messing up the shank/stem junction. I think I'll use my reject stummels to practice on, and build my confidence up a bit. ...

Re: First pipe!
It took alot of time and patience with many fine grits of sandpaper. The stem on this was actualy taken from a prebored block that I will never allow to see the light of day lol! So the tenon was already turned, but the block for this one, I drilled and shaped from start to finished.

Re: Stain bleeding through
I tried sanding and couldn't get it all out, so I coated the bowl with a mixture of charcoal, powdered sugar and water; a mixture that was posted on this forum some time ago. I went very light on the powdered sugar, just enough to help it bind so as to maximize the charcoal content. I just posted pi...

First pipe!
So this is finally my first pipe that actually turned out as a useable pipe. If anyone could offer a critique or advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Please don't hold back! :) http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/400976_10150599032148582_534563581_10938440_523407608_n.jpg http://a7.spho...

Re: Stain bleeding through
Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll see if I can sand it out, if not, I'll do a bowl coating. I'll post pictures when I'm done. Hopefully by the end of the week

Stain bleeding through
Hi everyone. This is my first post on this forum and I am very happy to be here. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge with noobs like me  Anyways, I had to rusticate my first pipe due to some majorly noticeable pits on the bowl, and was using black stain from PIMO on the rusticated areas, ...
