Re: So now what

We'll still sell pipes as long as there is a disclaimer that says "for marijuana use only" and if somebody insinuates they plan on smoking tobacco out of them you don't sell to them.

Re: #14 Dublin for critique

Pipes measured in inches smoke better than those measured in millimeters. Hope this helps.

Re: Rustication technique - new guy experimenting

What The Good Doctor says is correct. You want to chew the briar up until you can't see any of the original surface. Then give it a good scrubbing with a wire brush to remove all the lose bits that are lodged in the crags. Stain it if you want, then add a few coats of thinned shellac. A quick search...

Re: PME faux ivory

I've worked with the stuff from Masecraft. It's pretty brittle and sharp tools are a must, but it looks great. Word to the wise, though: try to avoid using red tripoli on it if you can, or it can tend to discolor a bit.

Maybe next time he'll think twice before attempting to reinforce his own neck with a stainless tenon. #dyac

Re: Bending Really Thick Stems

It's very important to do a stainless steel reinforcement on your giraffes, since that long skinny neck combined with the scorching heat of the Savanna can lead to disastrous results.

You can use them to make more. Then you have a lifetime supply.

Re: Bending Really Thick Stems

I use the same Dremel bit as for cutting slots. I do a few pretty deep scores on one side by going straight in with the bit instead of following the circumference. I make this series of grooves grooves at twelve, eight, and for o'clock so the cross section of the tenon in the grooved areas looks lik...

I ran into this a while ago. Biggest takeaway was that it prompted me to reevaluate how I score the delrin before I glue it up.

These guys: http://www.woodpenpro.com/acrylic_pen_b ... meter.html

I know woodcraft, craft supplies USA, and pretty much all the other places that cater to woodturners carry some as well. Worth checking into.

Not on reddit. Never took it seriously as a platform for anything other than a bunch of people vying to get the most upvotes on their irrelevant attempts at sarcastic humor in response to every post. Maybe it's worth a second look; I'll check it out. Would need to make friends before I can tear open...

Re: Stem work equal to the best I've ever seen in my life...

Having never been to Chicago, my expectations were unrealistic. I figured if I can't sell any there, I can't sell them anywhere. Other than instagram (less than 200 followers) and Dan Nemets' site, I don't get any exposure. So along with continually striving to improve my product, I think I need to ...

Re: Stem work equal to the best I've ever seen in my life...

Thus thread is so depressing. I sent seven pipes to Chicago; didn't sell a single one. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope that I can't sell my pipes because I'm not famous and not just because I suck so bad. Or maybe that just compounds the problem.

Re: Smoking?

If you're in Spokane, you're lucky to have Tobacco World at the old Flour Mill. They rotate through a variety of high quality tinned and bulk tobaccos in addition to all the usual aromatics. Also, they have 1Q and BCA in bulk, just ask them which ones they are. Man, I miss that place.
