I have a few chubby authors to make and they require a 1" wide stem. The guy that I am making them for has requested colored acrylic, and I am having a heck of a time finding any acrylic that wide that is in stock from my normal places.
Anyone have a source? I'd need maybe 6" of a white with black swirl, 6" of a black with white swirl, and 6" of another color.

I realize I can go to ebonite to get the width I need, but the client is very against it for cost reasons.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. He wants them to be saddle stems as well, so that rules out putting a wider hardwood stem inlay on and tapering it back from there.

I'd suggest sending Steve a message. I do think he has some 1" diameter stock. Otherwise, I'd be surprised if places like Delvie's plastics don't have it.

He definitely does. I bought a bundle of 1" rods in Chicago from his pop-up store.

These guys: http://www.woodpenpro.com/acrylic_pen_blanks/1_inch_and_larger_diameter.html

I know woodcraft, craft supplies USA, and pretty much all the other places that cater to woodturners carry some as well. Worth checking into.

I approve of this source. Their selection isn't mind boggling, but their stuff is pretty nice. Great customer service.
