Fitting the Stem

Post by mikea »

I've made the pipe and it's impressive by my standards. Now to the stem. I got a pre-made one from Pimo and perhaps made a mistake of sanding the tenon so it fits better into the mortise. This sanding has resulted in the there being a gap btw the stem and the mortise. You can see the gap. What can I do? Thanks

Can you please explain what you mean by this:

Thanks!

What is a drill gauge?

edit: ahhhhhh! I see. So size up the tennon with the gauge, put the paper on top of the gauge and pop the tennon through?
