What type of acrylic works for stems?

Post by munkey »

There are a chain of plastic stores in my area, I was wondering what to look for in acrylic to be used for pipe stems.

Are there different types of acrylics? What should one look for when purchasing acrylic to be used as pipe stems?

What other types of acrylic tricks are there? Is it possible to mix your own or add coloring pigment?

Thanks,
-Scott

A source I have been using is Delvies Plastics. http://www.delviesplastics.com/

They have various diameters and color of cast acrylic rod. I think they have a $30 minimum order on rod, but usually a couple of four foot rods covers that. The last time I ordered, I ordered unfinished and got 10% off.

Great, thanks for the information, guys.

The local shops do carry clear cast acrylic rods, but for more than Delvies.

Are there any sources for black cast acrylic rods?

Thanks,

Delvies has it

The colors are sorted by item numbers. You would want the solid black rod
