Need help with a churchwarden stem

Kim's technique is what I use. The stems are just too long and finicky to try and chuck up in a lathe or clamp in a drill press. That method will give you the best success rate. You might even find that 9/64 tapered bit is preferable to a 5/32 - depending on the particular stem.
